Do you think it would be around 400 for just a Journey with out any packages?

With 5k down I pay today 379 for G35 which is also high. I was also surprised when I heard the G37 is in the high 500's-600's range. I really hope they will realize its high sooner than later and decrease it or otherwise people would just get the 335 for that price or the 328 for 400's range (although the performance is lower).

You shouldn't just ask for the payment because that tells you nothing. The lease is based upon the actual purchase price and the money factor. If you go in and negotiate based on monthly payment you can end up screwing yourself. It is best to negotiate the purchase price and then based on the residual and money factor arrive at your monthly payment. There are some online lease calculators that are very helpful for that.

At the end its all about what goes out of your pocket each month so i want to get an idea of what people pay and once i get the dealer offer at least I know if that is reasonable or not.....

I did the math last month when surfing around here so I shouldn't be surprised, but $700 a month is alot for a $40,000 car. But that's the price you pay for being the first people out there with the new model.

I'm sure by Spring we'll see these numbers drop into low 500s.

Man these numbers are outrageous! Those are some really high payments to LEASE a car. I thought leasing is supposed to be cheaper then purchasing..I ran some numbers and with my current car as a trade i could get the payment in the 400 range, if i bought! Hmm maybe i should buy?

Everyone fails to realize a very important thing here... which was said a few posts up...

You essentially have to look at ALL costs to determine what your monthly payment is!!! Most people are just focusing on the monthly payment without realizing that almost everyone is not placing a down payment!

For every $1000 you drop down as a down payment, your monthly lease will go down by approximately $30 (very rough, I know).

So if I put down $2500, my monthly payment will look as if it's $75 cheaper, but at the end of the lease, I still paid the same amount!

Everyone has a problem with paying these amounts for a 45k vehicle.

A 48k Lexus GS350 is in the 800s. A 30k Audi A4 is at $400. Unfortunately, these are the rates these days...

BTW... the high MF for the G37 can be bought down to .00195 (equivalent to a 4.8% interest rate)... and the residual value of the car at 61% for 39 months is absolutely outstanding... most other makes are in the mid 50s.

There is lil chance you can get a good "idea" from other's monthly payment as to what you should be paying yourself, residual value changes from time to time so dose everyone's interest rate, and the sales tax could be wildly different from State to State, not only the sales tax rate but how they calculating them, some States only charges you from deprecation amount but some charges you from selling price, that alone could be 2k or more which would be 55 bucks per month.

To judging an leasing deal would be same as purchasing, still need to look at how much they got off from MSRP, and then ask what is their residual and MF, would you ask whats their monthly payment is, if you were looking to purchase? of course not, cus you dont know how much they put down, whats their interest rate or if they have any amount roll into from the trade-ins or if they buy anything extra like extended warranty, service contract...ect.

Take look at these numbers and see which one applies to you and take those numbers plug them into a lease calculator and see what payment you come up with, that would give you better ideas than to ask for others.
