The Obsession Begins
So I bought my 2008 G37S Coupe 6MT about six months ago... and recently realized my new obsession should probably be better documented. This way I can see where I started out... and see the contrast grow with what happens down the road.
Anyways, here comes my first ever mod thread!
Just for kicks... here's a pic of my 350Z from last year. It had all the basics: Touring package 6MT, Exhaust, Intake, Tint, Wheels, etc... hoping to do something similar with the new G37

First pic emailed to me from the dealership in Novi, MI before I drove from Dayton, OH to check it out. I'm a notorious Autotrader... so it took me nearly 6 months to track down a 6MT with all the features I wanted, in my price range.

First Mod: Paint that damn chrome lip!! Soon afterwards, I decided to de-badge the Mt Fuji and G37S decals to give the car a more uniform appearance (should look nice with some future bluebatmobile vinyl overlays).
And while I was at it... went ahead and swapped out for a Tanabe Medallion axle back exhaust. Gave the car a much deeper, better growl.
And here is a pic next to my friend's GTI... we did some work on his ride that day too, which actually has a pretty peppy turbo kit on it.

Next up, I did some research on the forums about decent intake systems in my price range... I wanted to stick with short arms due to some issues I had on my previous 350Z. I had a long-arm AEM intake that sucked up water on rainy days from under the front valance... TALK ABOUT SCARY!!
So in the end, I decided to install this R2C dual intake which seems like a pretty popular choice amongst the G community. And while I was working on the front of the car... I sent my grille to a friend for professional painting... tried blacking it out on my own with rattle cans originally, but I just wasn't happy with the tacky result.
Here's the result after re-installation and a nice wash/detail.

I debated on getting either the ZELE or the IPL bumper for quite awhile... but eventually caught a good deal in Sept from OC Infiniti on a blacked out IPL.
Installed it this past weekend. So, I know.. I'm officially joining the "most common bumper mod club" now. But honestly, I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.
My only gripe is that now the 19" sport wheels look kind of lame, in comparison to the super sharp front bumper.....
.....Good thing I was able to order my favorite wheels on the G... 20" Vossen CV1's from Preferred Customs before they get discontinued!!
More pics to come as soon as I get them powder coated!

Recently bought some of the Opaque GTR cutout overlays... really excited to see how they turn out, but haven't gotten around to installing them yet. Will post pics as soon as I have time!
Also bought some overlays for the front headlights, but after seeing a bunch of pics on the forums... I got ahold of JPSBLACKG37 on here to see about painting the headlight interiors for a more custom look instead. He's in Columbus so I figured this would be a cool mod for the winter while I'm working on wheels, calipers, etc.

After wheels, tires and GTR overlays for the taillights... I'm thinking painted headlights, some LED replacements, and a nice drop on some decent coil overs will be my next investments. There goes that Christmas bonus!! haha
