Well... I may have spoke a little too soon. The vehicle I had a deposit on came back from the mechanic with $4,200 worth of repairs, so I withdrew my deposit.

This whole ordeal with trying to find a beater has literally warn me out, therefore I will more than likely be putting the money towards my G. May even go as far as to possibly go forced induction with my G. But we'll see.

Sry to hear that Kirk, I thought there would be issues w/ that bumper, but had no idea another $4k was required

BTW, those Carsmos look nice w/ the wood trim

Nah it wasn't the bumper, the budgie chords are holding up just fine, it was replacing the white **** carpet/headliner.

Lol, I was looking at a 2003 BMW 330i that was reasonably priced and had "low miles" for its age, a shy over 100k. Cosmetically it looked great, but I made the wise decision to have a mechanic check it out and it needed a load of things like front control arms, window regulator, valve cover, oil pan gasket, and a couple of small things too. It's not worth it to me.

Two thoughts about that. One, don't you need a car you can rely on? And two, wouldn't you be wanting to mod the BMW, too?

Is '11G37S an available SN on the BMW forums? I suspect it is, LOL.

Too bad on that one Kirk (sorry about the stupid pics as it detracts from your excellent build thread, but thought you might need a laugh).

Coming from an 02 7 series w/ 100k on the odometer I can attest to the "fun" of keeping them road-worthy. That 100k mark really is the tipping point as to whether you want to keep them sound at a huge cost or just send them to pasture. I chose the latter, and IMO you made a wise choice to pass. BMWs are about as good as it gets when all is well, but keeping them long term becomes a huge commitment.

G/L in your continued search.

The '03 with the M56 inline 6 engine is pretty reliable, the issue is when the previous owners don't take care of their vehicle and then you start looking at them and they need thousands of dollars of maintenance needed.

I wouldn't have modded the 3 series if I had gotten it. But it probably would have ended with me replacing the G with a E46 M3 and modding the crap out of it.

No worries Brad. What good is a build thread without some humor?

The E46 is a pretty fun little car, especially the 3l inline 6 that's in the 330i. For a car with 225hp stock it's pretty peppy. I'm glad I had a prepurchase inspection. The BMW was listed for $8,000 with $4,200 worth of repairs. For that I might as well lease a Camry with my discount with work, which I may do, it may take away from supercharging my G right now, but at the same time I'm not sure if it's worth supercharging a vehicle with 70k on the odometer. Maybe I'm over thinking it but I still need to do some research on SC a "higher mileage" car.

Update on the DD, I went to the Toyota dealership today and was offered a 2014.5 Camry SE for $194/mo lease for 36 months with 12,000 miles a year, and includes 2 years of free maintenance. Going in tomorrow to sign the deal and pick it up.

In other news I will be planning the following for sometime this winter:
-RSR coil overs
-Hotchkiss or Eibach sways
-Vossen VFS-2 wheels with either Toyo Proxies or PSS
-OEM DRL
-Repaint front bumper
-Sport lip
-Auto-x rear diffuser in gloss black
-Gloss black vinyl window trim
-Takeda CAI
-UPREV tune

Look forward to those updates, should turn out awesome!

Those new Camrys aren't bad, a friend of mine just got one and the interior is pretty upscale, sounds like a nice deal too.

Also meant to add:
-Hawk brake pads
-Slotted rotors (brand tbd)
-Very lightly tinted tails (to get rid of some of the "cherry-ness" of the stock tails)
-Round GTHaus Miserschaft tips (changing out from ovals for better fitment in the diffuser)
-Possibly M370 manifold
-Changing over my coupe 19's to be my dedicated winter set (done)

So this happened today, but I'm still torn between the VFS1 and VFS2.

I don't understand... what happened today?

If you're taking votes, I vote VFS1. The VFS2 will be a b1tch to clean.

Vossen just introduced the VFS2 in 19". Before they only offered it in 20" and 22". The VFS1 is still only offered in 20" and 22" at the moment.
