Shhh. No one noticed that but you John... let it go LOL.

Converse argument if you need one - the OEM calipers come in silver and IIRC black. So having orange calipers is already custom - why not custom lettering? Fits together perfectly.

Oh, no worries about mild OCD issues, Mike. I'm totally fine with the letters being backwards compared to OEM, and the 4-pot decals being larger. The first is something only Lego would notice (damn him, LOL.) And the second... I actually prefer the larger letters against the orange. Like you said, it's all customized, and that's cool.

Sorry to plant that seed

+1 the larger lettering looks fine. In fact, IMO, it looks more OEM than OEM.

I actually noticed too when I first saw the pictures but didn't want to say anything incase it made you hate the project lol. I do agree with the larger lettering looking better on your calipers too.

Keep in mind, my trunk says SKYLINE, the G37S emblem is debadged, there are 4DSC decals on the windows, and I've got this unusual Infiniti emblem on my dash trim. I'm not exactly factory correct when it comes to branding. These brakes are just another thing that could be stock but isn't quite.

I'm totally fine with this stuff. Not quite OEM is kind of the point.

It's been a few weeks since swapping calipers and brake lines. For years I've been dealing with this hic-cup when moving the car after sitting overnight, and that behavior is consistently gone now. So is the morning squeal for the first 3 or 4 application of the brakes. It must be that one or more of the original pistons was sticky, and now that everything is new and renewed it's like having a brand new car again. Maybe that's a little hyperbole, but the brakes are doing exactly what they should be now. And they look damn good while doing it.

Approaching the car deep in the back of a Lowes parking lot this afternoon, and damn is this isn't some show-car level stuff in my DD.

Looks good Jon, did you rebuild the calipers yourself ... I like that color .. I think i have seen that color in the past right here in this forum.. I think if i remember correctly someone went as far as color matching their headlight shroud . How did you go about resolving your mushy padal

Yep, rebuilt the calipers myself. First time I've ever done that. Minor DIY bragging rights, but I feel good about it.

Mushy pedal was fixed immediately after they bled the lines a second time, and caught air on the backside of a couple calipers. It's been solid for the last two weeks. Better than solid, actually. The brakes are smooth, firm and blissfully quiet.

Hi, G10. The color is called Illusion Orange, from Prismatic Powders. It's a medium-to-heavy metallic orange, applied as a two-stage powder coat.

Inspiration on the project... that's all right here in this brake thread: https://www.myg37.com/forums/brakes-...r-project.html

Heater Hose Connector

In other news, bought this aluminum connector the other day from Z1 Motorsports. It's intended to replace the plastic OEM heater hose connector, which apparently is a ticking time-bomb. You don't know when it's going to fail, but you know that when it does things won't be pretty.

It's been a few weeks since I swapped out my Z1 Poly transmission mount for the original OEM mount that I've kept in the attic for the last six years. I've been feeling like it's time to reduce the NVH in my car, and the biggest contributor to that was the transmission mount. No regrets in getting it, and absolutely no regrets in going back to OEM. In fact, I'm very pleased. There's a significant amount of noise in the cabin with the poly mount, kind of a growling noise. Without it, I can better appreciate the exhaust, and I was thinking exactly that today as I drove around.

My latest mod was to de-mod. First time that's happened.

Either due to my age or to the options for the V36 platform, this is also the first car I've de-modded to improve the overall experience. In my case, putting the OEM sport springs back on the rear instead of the Nismo 370Z reds.
