Seeing your car in pictures is one thing, but seeing your car in a rolling shot...jeez, its absolute perfection lol, insane how good those wheels look with the moonlight white

I don't see it in your build thread. What diffuser is that exactly? looks so clean

How did the fast intentions hold up to the F-Type? F-types sound pretty damn good stock

I went out for a drive today with my wife and son and also hit the 50k milestone! I was distracted and missed getting the picture.

Car looks good!

That isn't a rear diffuser, it's just a matte black vinyl wrap on the section of the lower bumper.

I'm working through all the photos we took yesterday, and will put up a media thread, probably tomorrow. To answer about the FI exhaust on a VQ vs. the OEM exhaust on a 5.0 liter, supercharged Jaguar F-Type... well, as nice as the FI exhaust sounds, the Jag is just freaking bonkers. I've never ever driven a car that makes this kind of noise. It's a crazy sound that just rips right through your body and makes you giggle like a little kid. And I'm not being hyperbolic, I swear you will giggle uncontrollably. The crackles and pops on decel, and the roar on heavy throttle... there's nothing in the whole automotive world like it. Um, maybe the Ford GT is a contender, but otherwise... OMG. You just have to experience it for yourself, because second hand words are never enough. It's an emotional experience, for sure.

With as much humility as I can muster, I agree that those 19" Vossens are a fantastic look for my car, and in no small measure because of the finish against the pearl white. The fitment and design is so rewarding to look at, it makes me happy with artistic appreciation every time I approach the car. And to your point, seeing them in rolling motion is just gorgeous. Anyway... thanks.

I wish my phone picked up on the Jag's exhaust the way Roger's phone picked up the sound of my G, but it is what it is.

And believe me, the in-person experience of this car is almost a religious experience. You can't help but come away moved.

I found myself commenting in 4RDZ's next car thread, and the thought occurred to me to say, "Or you could just buy my car."

Now, I didn't actually say that. The point is that genuine phrase came into my head before I batted it away. Damn.

I think the day is coming. Maybe 2023, but more likely 2024. And then definitely by 2025.

Mini-Meetup with friends - September 2022

I had some old friends over this weekend, one local and two from Canada. JR lives here, and we've known one another for 20 years. He drives the 2022 Audi e-Tron GT RS. Matt and Mark are Canadian, and we became friends over 10 years ago through the Maxima.org car forum. Mark is driving the 2008 G37S Coupe 5AT, and Matt just picked up a 2013 BMW 135i M-Sport 6MT.

Three totally uncool old guys with toys, and then there's Matt, LOL. That little BMW is a great driver's car. Just the right size to be both tossable and comfortable. Very smooth in-line six, and a very easy to use clutch and shifter. Not sloppy at all, just so-o-o nice to drive. Lots of power, great handling.

The 14 year old G Coupe is in great condition, stock except for a sport exhaust. 5AT with 3.69 rear gears, running exactly like it was new.

The e-Tron, that's a freaking rocket ship. Full EV, zero-to-60 in 3.0 seconds, huge and ridiculously luxurious, with a retail value 3x the collective values of the other three combined.

Coolant System

I was reading threads about an OEM plastic hose coupling that is known to fail over time. (Well, known to everyone except me.) That got me to thinking about how my car is 12 years old, and although the miles are low (51,000), old is old. This is something I'm reminded of ever time I look in the mirror.

https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...connector.html
https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...ml#post4319945

So maybe I should plan on a bunch of stuff:

new pass side hose coupling; driver side too?
new upper & lower radiator hoses; other coolant hoses?
new thermostat
flush & fill at the shop

Anybody have any advice on the topic? I see Z1 Motorsports has an aluminum coupling for $34, which is overkill, but also rock solid. Probably just go with OEM replacements for the hoses and thermostat. Might have the shop install everything in sync with a flush & fill... probably easiest.

Last and only time I had the coolant system flushed & filled was 5 years ago. However, that was also only 12K miles ago. So I don't know how I should be persuaded here: age or miles.

aluminum connector, not the Z1 version:
Amazon Amazon

Wait for a sale/overstock price reduction, and you can snag it for $14.

I've got the new hoses front and rear, new couplings, etc. - I should probably do the thermostat too since I'm replacing the coolant anyway.

Thanks Mike. I like the idea of going to a purposefully designed aluminum part, instead of plastic or Home Depot. Is it just the one connector for the passenger side, or is there a second one elsewhere?

(excuse my stoopid about the coolant system)

I think in the VHRs there's 2. I've got one AL amazon one and the Z1 one from black friday so I've got one with a bleeder. Haven't installed yet.

Engine parts are steel and aluminum, so coolant is designed to not eat aluminum. Brass... less sure. I've used plenty of brass LowesDepot Racing parts on prior cars though...

I think, IIRC, that these bastards are most easily reached with the upper intake manifold removed. So... shop is a good choice if you don't want to dig that far down

I still don't have a shop that I trust in any quantitative way.
