Rochester's new G

I participated in Autocross yesterday, with a friend who came down from Canada for the event. Clipped a few cones , got a little sunburned. and came in 6 out of 24 in Novice Class, which made me pretty happy. The Eibach Sway bars kept the car incredibly flat in the slaloms compared to last year, which totally validates their purchase, IMO.
Anyway, he took some pictures of the car that I like, so I thought I'd post them here.

Have to say 6th is impressive! Good skills!

I'll have to wait for web postings for more info, and even then I don't think they describe which cars are which.
Thanks! My friend from Canada took 1st in Novice class with a supercharged 2003 G35 6MT, on CO's with track-tires. He was actually a little bummed they classified him as novice, but overall happy with having won the class.
Truth be told, I wasn't even paying attention to times. I was just trying to stay on track and stay focused. AutoX is exciting, and a little unnerving unless you do it as a hobby. This is only my second time out in two years.

I just checked the website, and although yesterday's event results aren't in yet, previous events do actually list make/model of the cars.

Andrew, I have no way of knowing if it was the same car, and won't even try defending or dissing some guy you saw in novice school a few years ago. However, if it was, and if he's been doing it for years now, you can only assume he's improved, yes?

Darn it Rochester! I just finished solving the puzzle you've been presenting everybody for a long, long time and was about to post my results and then you go and end the contest by revealing the answer to the world?? Garsh dang it!!
Will you be giving us another one soon?

I don't know whether to feel complimented, or stalked.
Funny story about the blue tape on my tags that day. I heard a rumor (urban myth, probably) about insurance companies taking pictures of cars at public-access racing events like this. So I figured it took only an extra few seconds to tape my plates, since I had the tape out anyway. Well let me tell you, I caught **** from a lot of people who were wondering why I did that. It turned into a pretty big joke. Fortunately, I'm not so proud as to not laugh about it, and kind of deserved it anyway.

My friend Matt (1st place Novice) and the 2nd place car were 5 seconds ahead of the rest... so not exactly novices. Anyway, here are the cars in order:
2003 G35 Sedan 6MT
1991 BMW 318
2008 Mini Cooper S
2006 Mazda Miata
2007 Cobalt SS
2011 G37 Sedan 6MT (me!)
2013 Shelby GT500
2011 Subaru WRX
2005 Subaru Legacy
1990 Mazda Miata
2005 Subary Legacy
...and so on.
The Cobalt SS was quick, but sounded like a broken clothes dryer. Really ridiculous.
Said Lotus came in first in Pro. And the 3 BRZ/FRS cars were dominating the track. The 1972 Chevelle? Not so much, LOL.

^ actually, oddly enough, the Cobalt SS seems to be a proficient track car. it placed extremely high in C&D's Lightning Lap comparo a couple years back, easily winning its division and beating a few cars in higher divisions.
OP - great to see someone using our cars properly - actually driving them for real! i've done a track day and a 1/4 mile event and had a blast at both. good point about the insurance aspect, all tracks make it clear that insurance does not cover track use.

I haven't done a proper 1/4 racetrack since... 1985, I think. Almost 30 years ago, in a modified Trans Am that was also my DD when I was in college. I think I'd like to try that someday with the G as well. And maybe a driving school day at Watkins Glen could be fun. (Expensive, but fun.)
