Hey everyone,
If your 2010 to 2013 G37 has navigation, this video will show you how to enable the "Tire Pressure" menu,
using an $8 USB A to A cable from Amazon -OR-If your laptop has USB C ports, the standard USB C to USB A cable will also work.

As far as I know, there isn't any way to get this to work on 2009 and older navigation units, or any G37 without navigation.

I enabled the Tire Pressure menu on my G37 about 3 months ago. There hasn't been any problems and everything continues to work just like it did before.
I REALLY like being able to see the individual tire pressures when ever I want and I think you will like that too!

OK, that was freaking amazing. Who's going to jump on this and do it too?

And why in the world would this not be something enabled by default?

Also, there were a bunch of things turned off and set to zero. What else is in there but disabled?

DOOM, huh? Boy, it's been decades. How about Wolfenstein 3D? Or better yet, Duke Nukem? (Just kidding. I can't chew bubble gum and kick asz at the same time.)

So the whole point of the thumb drive is so that the boot process can find this empty text file at the root, right? Funny, old-school semaphore technique. But since capacity seems irrelevant, how come the thumb drive has to be either 4 or 8 gig? I'm digging through my junk drawers for old thumb drives.


Absolutely. I'm very excited to do this, but am chickensht to mess with the NAV configuration. Really looking forward to hearing from other members who are more brave than I am. A couple of years ago I went through a remote Tune process, and upgrading new maps to the ECU freaked me out.

If you can get the game to run on a Linux/Raspberry Pi, you can play that in the G37.
AUX in can be enabled (future episode) and with a custom cable, the functionality that the 2009 G37 has will be available on the 2010-2013 G37s!

Correct, it only seems to need the filename to be present.

As for the size of the memory stick, at first I assumed anything FAT32 should work and shot video saying that.

Then I decided to test it using 16 and 32 GB sticks... it didn't work. Weird... I tried a 4 and 8 GB and all was good. I looked for a 1 or 2 GB stick, but didn't have any that still worked.
You might of noticed the audio has a slightly different tone when I mention the 4/8 B size, due to the voice over.
I don't know why it is like that... maybe it is some unusual limitation of the VxWorks RTOS that the nav unit uses.

I have 4 nav units that I run on my test bench, so if I bricked one, it didn't mess up my car.
This wasn't a cheap solution (duties, taxes and currency conversion really add up!) but it gave me freedom to try anything I wanted.

After it worked well on the test bench, I changed it on my car and all went well.
From what I have seen, I don't expect any issues. The Consult III+ indirectly modifies the same file, (over CAN bus) so it is being used like it was designed... sort of.

Very cool! I'd be comfortable doing this because I work in the IT sector. Any way we can update our own nav maps without having to go to the dealer and get charged for them to do it?

Maps updates?
Yes, that is possible. However the 2022 Nav update (last one available) I purchased only had maps as of 2020. Not nice Infiniti!
As I see it, there isn't high demand for this, as most use their phone for navigation.

Over the last 15 months of navigation research, a lot of interesting things have been figured out / enabled.
Everything will be shared in future episodes, as time permits. It takes time to test/verify, shoot/edit, post and answer questions.
The last thing I want to do, is give bad/wrong information!!

My main focus are the GTR gauges as there seems to be a LOT of interest plus with the ease of install for a
Bluetooth oil pressure sensor, we can make sure to monitor oil pressure and the oil gallery gaskets issue.

This is amazing. I wanted to ask. I broke one of my sensors and had plans on making a dummy enclosure to keep it under pressure since it was the valve that broke but it looks like it needs to spin as well.
Could normal car motion be enough or does it need a specific amount of rotation, etc?

Coolant Temp, Transmission Temp and Oil Temp/pressure all on one digital guage cluster would be awesome.

The 370Z guys would also be interested, as well as the Q folks as I'm assuming that it would be portable somewhat to the Q as well.

I spent the morning doing more testing with 16 and 32 GB memory sticks and got them both to work.

For the 16GB one, even thought I formatted it in FAT32 on my MAC and in Windows 11, it didn't work.
This was the error message:
usrFdiskPartLib: warning: invalid partition entry encountered block 0, entry 0, sys type ee, Skipped

I then used the official SDcard.org (official governing body of SD card standards) formatting program
(https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/)
and now both 16 and 32GB memory sticks work.

Sooooo, this may make it a little easier to find a 4 to 32 GB, memory stick in order to do this.

I found an old 16g thumb drive, then formatted it as FAT32 using that SDcard formatting tool you recommended. Then I created the "UsbDebugStart.ivanaX" text file at the root.

So now all I need is the cable (ordered) and my kid's laptop... and the courage to hack the Nav unit.

If you want to verify the 16 GB USB stick is working with your nav system, remove or rename the UsbDebugStart file and copy any MP3 file to it.
Plug it into the car, and you should be able to listen to the MP3. Then you know the USB stick is good and the USBDebug will also work.

In the YouTube comments there is one person saying that it worked exactly as expected on his 2010 G37.
If you are unsure, just wait for the others to post their observations. After all, you have lived without real time tire pressures for 12 years... a few more day/weeks won't hurt you

The 370 tire pressure menu will be tested later today/tomorrow. It should also work on the Q40, but it will NOT WORK on the Q50, that system if very different.
