My tires are square, does that count? lol
This is a great option for us AWD guys to get the best of both worlds.
I was asked what the reasoning is for this, I'll explain a little:
Specs:
TSW Bathurst - Gloss Gunmetal
Front: 20x9 +20
Rear: 20x10.5 +25
Tires: Continental DWS 255/35R20
This is a great option for us AWD guys to get the best of both worlds.
I was asked what the reasoning is for this, I'll explain a little:
- 255/35R20 tires are very reasonably priced
- The slightly stretched rear tire size allows me to go with a very aggressive rear offset to maximize the concavity of the wheel
- There is a 0% difference between the front and rear tires which is the optimal target for the AWD system
- I drive with these wheels and tires all year round and the modest width square tire setup keeps the car neutral in the snow since I don't have sleds on the rear of my car
- The 255/35R20 has a little extra sidewall when compared to the 245/35 and 285/30 combo which helps to keep the ride smooth in the 20" size
- and it looks good, lol

^ I don't understand why you would do this? You can't rotate the tires unless you dismount them and the outside diameter has to be smaller on the rear with the wider rim. What is the benefit of same size tires on different size rims? The wheels and fit look great though!

Also, lightly stretching a tire does not change the overall diameter. The outer diameter of a modern tire is determined by steel bands which do not change their size under these conditions. Also, the proof is in the pudding, I have ran this setup for a while now with 0 issues. Discount Tire actually has a sheet that says what tire sizes can safely put on a certain width wheel and the 255/35R20 tire is in their book as an acceptable fitment for a 10.5" wheel.

square set up available here I rock them as my winter wheels. IMO these are perfect for sedans and if youre lowered just grab 15-20mm spacers and youre set

You beat me to it! I just ordered the Bathurst but kept 19x10.5 for the back, how much space do you have on the inside by the bolt on the rear wheels? there's like an inch of room stock. I'll be using 275/30s on the rear as well 😜

Widest 18" tires
Hi,
I just purchased a set of 18x9.5 +35 wheels for my 2010 sedan. The widest 18" square stup i've seen so far is from Soundmike, running 255/45/18 square n 18x9.5 +38 wheels. Being that my wheels are 3mm less offset, and i'm running eibach pro-kit springs, will 265/40/18 square setup work? Or am i stuck with 255's?

Too bad Soundmike is no longer a G owner as it would be good to hear firsthand.
Here's a pic of an 18x9.5 on a 265 just to see the sidewall fit
If you test fit the wheels under load (lower the mounted wheel on top of an old tire, or similar padded surface) you should be able to get a visual for how the tire will fit.

Thanks! Man that looks good. I'm going to slap the wheel on the front and see how much space i'm working with. I just hare having to buy a pair of 266/40 only to find out i cant fit them on the fronts and have to get a slightly smaller front pair.

That tire pic above wasn't on a G, but just wanted you to see how much sidewall bulge there would be, it's not too bad, and if those guys can cram 275s on 10.5s and still get inside the fender that combo you're wanting should work out. But yeah, only mount one tire first
