Pilot Super Sport vs Pilot Sport A/S3?

I have about 1500 miles on my rear AS3s and love them compared to the Bridgestone 970s. The 970s would shake the car at 80mph. Can't wait to put AS3s on the rest of the car.

Needed to replace the PSS on the rear axle. Nobody has any of them including Tire Rack or even Michelin. Backordered nationally with no date as to when they'll be available. Thanks for making a fantastic tire that people like and then never having any of them to sell Michelin! You suck.
So I have a pair of Pilot Sport A/S 3 on the rear now. I'll replace the front pair with them too pretty soon. It's only been one day but so far so good. I'll be able to give a direct back to back comparison between the PSS and the PS A/S 3 soon after having them on all 4 corners and putting some miles on them.

Black Betty, I did the opposite. I replaced my front Super Sports first. Then about two weeks latter replaced the back. I've had the A/S 3's on all four wheels for about two weeks. I think the SS had a sharper turn in and where a little quieter. If cold temperatures weren't a concern, I would rather have the Super Sports. They are also lighter and we all know how much a loss in unsprung weight helps everything.

I have been using pilot super sports for a summer (on a set of XGT 20in Rim) = tire + rim = 50lbs which is stock 18" rim + dunlop AS.
Honestly, I felt the engine is not powerful enough to handle the grip of the tires. It also accumulates a lot of carbon in the cylinders - after a seafoaming it late august the power becomes better. Thinking cars using these as OEM are all 380HP+ cars.
Direct benefit is braking distance.
Minor benefit is cornering.
Direct draw back is the car will stop in 60% distance after stop pedaling gas (compared with stock 18" AS). MPG 16-> 13.2
This summer I will have the takeda CAI, and will update later.

I agree with rationality. My experience, or illusion, was the harder I drove the car, the faster the carbon accumulates. Therefore, with super sports on,carbon deposits faster. Never scientifically tested, just a feeling.

I love my AS/3 up-sized tires
I put the Michelin AS/3 in this size 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 on my G37S 6MT Coupe and have about 5000 miles on them since December. The old original tires with 26,000 miles were loud and had a rough ride. They didn't stick, so it was kind of fun to spin the tires, but over all, I didn't enjoy diving nearly as much as I do now.
For me, I decided to go with the AS/3 over the PSS because this is my primary car, I wanted my tires to last a bit longer, I didn't want to change tires during a few months of cold weather when the temp was below 50 degrees, and I heard that the AS/3's were a bit quieter than the PSS. I do drive hard, but not on the track. I'm also glad that I paid a few extra bucks and got the wider tires. I don't know if there is any noticeable change in performance, but it does give the car a great look. Negligible additional cost to add such an improved visual if you ask me.
I'm very happy I cried once just bought the Michelin's - $1200 for all 4 installed at Costco. I'm also happy I 0 up-sized the tires. They look great and I get compliments on them. More than anything, it just feels better getting into a car that looks a bit beefier that the original sized tires. I didn't think that would matter to me much before.
After 5000 miles since December, the car drives and handles great. Road noise from the tires is way down. For me, the real measure is that I find that I look forward to getting in the car, hopping on the freeway and taking the long way to where ever I'm going when I can - and I feel confident that the tires are going to do what I need them to do. Yea, I spend more $ on gas and put a lot of miles on the car, but it so fun, fun fun!
Also for what it's worth, I'm also glad I put a Escort 9500xi radar detector in the car. Now I can totally relax...
