Pilot Super Sport vs Pilot Sport A/S3?
#16
Doesn't matter what the brand or the model is, if you care about performance you don't want all seasons. They compromise too much in any given category so that they're half-decent across every category. The only thing all seasons excel at is being mediocre.

Surprisingly, the Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires kill the stock summer Bridegstones in every category!

I drove them in our first storm here in Indiana a couple weeks ago. There was about 3-4" on the ground at the time. Did okay driving but they didnt like ice much and stopping was a bit challenging. I have an 09 A4 with Quattro. Not sure I would use them year round in the snow belt or an area that sees few plowed roads.

I just replaced the Michlen PSS with 31K miles. They where excellent tires. Prior to these I had Dunlop Star Specs they where very good tires as well but only lasted 22K. I just replaced the PSS with another set of PSS. So far in my experience this is the best high performance tire for our cars.

Ordered at set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's from Tire Rack to replace some Bridgestone RE970's on my G37S Sedan. Paid less for the Michelins than I did for the Bridgestone's two years ago....

I am also in the market for tires and have narrowed down to these two as well. Large retail chain rep is really pushing the A/S 3 for my G37S Sedan but I am really curious about the PSS'. I've heard so much good feedback about the PSS' that I almost have to try them once. I am in Phoenix as well where all seasons are not necessary but the mileage I can get with the A/S 3's is enticing!

If winter weather is not an issue go with the Super Sports. I have had both and the Super Sports are quieter and have more grip. But they suck in cold weather. That's why I now have A/S 3's. I'm in North Carolina so snow is not really a concern. However, cold temperatures are a concern. That being said, both tires are great.

"the Super Sports are quieter"
Would like to hear from more that have tried both.
