Question Side to side tire rotation - bad for rims??

this is a 2 part question: i need new tires and am considering hankook ventus v12's because they have a symmetrical tread and can be rotated side-to-side. i have a staggered set-up and can't go front to back. my current tires are more worn on the insides than the outsides so i'm thinking the side-to-side rotation will allow me to get a bit more life out of the tires. my questions:

1. is it bad for the rims to keep taking the tires off every year to swap them from 1 side to the other?

2. am i correct in my thinking that doing this will get me some extra life out of the tires?

You spend at least $15/ rim mounting and balancing it

Plus I like those machines to touch my wheels the least amount of times as possible

The more times you dismount/mount tires the more likely they are to get damaged in the process due to human error or poor handling. But it's not inherently bad for them.

Yes, you can get more even wear from the tires that way.

The V12 is actually directional so it makes rotating them harder. You can move them left to right, but they have to be dismounted and remounted for the other side. Otherwise the tire will point the wrong direction.

Only risk you run of dismounting all the time is potential damage to the wheel and/or tire. More possibility of man or machine error that may result in something getting damaged. Other than that it won't hurt. The more you can move the tires around the better for the longevity.
