Hankook Ventus V12 good enough?
Hey guys.. I just got a crazy deal on a set of Volk G2's in 19"
Now I need some little advice on the tires. V12's look like the tire of choice by most members here. Am wondering, are they at par with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport? The price difference is only $250 for the set so its not a big deal.
I have used the V12's in the past but found them to be very noisy under certain conditions.. But that may be cause it was a G35.
Any thoughts/feedback is much appreciated.
The tire size will be 245/40 in front and 275/35 in rear.
Things am looking in a tire.. Good Cornering, low noise, sticky, ok tread life but not like the ones on stock tires lol

The Super Sports are better in every way in my experience. If it is just commuting, the benefits may not really matter to some. However, the PSS will last longer too and be quiet the whole time. Their grip is simply fantastic and they respond very, very well to steering input. I found the V12s to be a little sloppy, louder and have noticeably less grip. I had V12s on my M3 and regretted them from day 2... sold them early and replaced them with PSS and am happy I did.
I personally think the SS are the best all around tire there is at the moment if you are willing to pay the small premium.

^^ that seems pretty consistent with what I have read so far. I personally found the V12's very noisy as well but people just say the opposite. Oh well. Thanks for the detailed feedback. Am anyways leaning towards PSS. Lets see if others chime in.

In comparison, sure. But the V12 aren't bad tires. Just not up to the PSS. I don't remember how long I got out of the Hankooks, sorry. I know it was decent wear. My rear PSS lasted the 15k miles of their warranty and are now bald. Non staggered setups have a 30K mileage warranty.

Honestly V12s are a pretty crappy tire. Price is the only thing they have going for them but in all other aspects the PSS are HUGELY better!
I got V12s on my old G swapping out the Worn to threads RE050s. Even after those the V12 had nowhere near enough grip. Wet traction is slightly better than 050 and so is tread wear but not worth it IMO. Go with Super sports I'm sure you'll be happy.

Haha.. Am still debating on the size for the rears. I haven't dropped yet so not sure if I would rub with my setup. Once I do the drop, I will have a better idea. I was actually quite amazed at how light the PSS are. Not too bad as comapared to a lot of other tires in market. But eventually yes, I love fat tires and will throw some on sooner or later

Thanks for the feedback. Once again, you get what you pay for theory stays intact lol. Well for the most part... I am/have always been biased towards Michelin which is why I have those on all cars in my house.

I have not had any experience with the PSS's but have had an awesome experience with my BFG G-Force Sport Comp 2's. Literally could not break traction without launching stupidly or trying to take a turn far to fast. Probably a good option in price between the two with quality in between both.

For the price, I am a fan of the V12s, tracked them and am happy with them. With proper rotation i managed to squeeze 30k on my first set. On the second set, i had issues with alignment that cause some cupping so they got plenty loud and wore down pretty fast.
If you run staggered, the V12s (or a directional tire) might be a good tire as you can rotate left/right by dismounting/remounting the tires and even-out camber wear.
That said, they are not PSS. I do not have a direct comparison but from everyone's comments on the PSS, i have only read of a handful saying they're not entirely up to par. Whereas there are more people complaining about the V12s.
