You need 8 to 10 mils of preload.Support the rear with jack stands.Put a floor jack under the spring basket.Remove the shock bolt. Then jack the basket up 8 to 10 mils.Just look through the shock eye when you are jacking it up to what you think is the right preload.adjust the shock, install the shock bolt, drop the jack and away you go.You should also remove the spring and perch to adjust the height. If you do it a lot with the load of the car on it,over time you can mess up the threads.BC does not state this in there instructions,KW does.Just my 2 cents

Lol, BC instructions?? All it said was "install by professional"

So after initial install and setting the original preload, if I adjust the height of the spring 5 mm I can just adjust the shock 5 mm, right? Or do I need to reset the preload again?

Go ahead and set the preload again...5mm on the perch will give you 9mm in height adjustment.
On the rear .6" adjustment on the spring perch will give you 1.0" height and the same goes for lowering.

If you're trying to adjust the height the last thing you would want to touch the springs and its perch its seated on this style of coilover
