I got my kit in today and I have to say that the engineering and build quality that went into this kit is nothing short of stunning. Al said he would post a DIY on this. I'm willing to help out with it and was going to document my process anyway. I don't want to duplicate effort but I am happy to send my documentation to Al in case one of us runs into something unexpected.
Mike, thanks for your input! I can't wait to get these on the car and see how much better they are over stock.

Final Install
Here's what they look like on the car while still on jack stands. After a little trimming to fit the rear backing plates, everything went fine. Performance on the track was great and will be even better with a better street/track pad combo. No fade however no matter how hard I pushed them and great pedal modulation. By the way the pictures were taken on two different days. The fronts after track duty and the rear before track duty and newly installed. I saved 5 lbs. per rotor over the stock ones and the curved vanes and drilled slots definitely helped keep the brakes cool during tracking even with the heat/dust shields still on. My last exercise will be to get rid of those shields when I have more time to do so.

I"m currently using their ET500 pads which came with the kit. Not bad for the street, very similar to the OEM's but a little more aggressive. They seem to be a little more heat and fade resistant than the stock units. I will upgrade to their XT series when they come out. I'm looking for something a little better than the Hawk HPS pads but not quite as noisy or grippy as their HP+ pads. I'll find out soon enough.

Nice. I'm running 500s on OEM rotors and I like them. You're right about their fade resistance. They also need a little bit of heat in them to get to max friction.
I have 800s in the mail and will use them at an upcoming hdpe event. Should get them this week. I'm guessing they will be even less grippy at street temps.

Pads arrived. Haven't installed them yet because of this pesky job thing... but I did bake them in my oven to aid in break-in. Put them on the top shelf on an Al-covered baking sheet (to reflect the heat) and broiled them at 525 degrees for 45 minutes. It was smelly and the lady was mad when I got home. Oh well
Will report back when I've installed them either tomorrow or Saturday. Got a few things to do on the car!
Oh, I should add that there is a structural difference between the 800s and the 500s in that the 800s are not chamfered on the leading and trailing edges like the more streetable 500s are (chamfering reduces likelihood of squeal but also reduces friction surface area).
This makes sense since the 800s were originally intended to be a light track day pad. RB has since retracted that designation because the compound wasn't always up to task on the 370z's poorly-cooled braking system.
