NoirG, I live in the Plantation area, so you are not that far from me. I'lll take you up on that offer if you're serious. I would be interested in testing out the coilovers in your car. Let me know if you are free one of these weekends so we can meet up and I can get a feel for it as a passenger.

I want to know what $2K coilovers feels like. I really do before pulling the trigger.

The only way to compare them is by having them and realizing what you like best. Of course people are going to have their opinons, I have heard of Tein coils busting before as well on other cars. There was someone selling their busted up set a little bit ago on driver. I loved my Teins, but when I was offered a pair of Stance coils at a great price because a friend was deploying I jumped on it. I am very glad I did, I have had no issues so far and the ride at middle setting is perfect! If I had to do all over again I would have bought Stance right away. Again it is my opinion, each person has their own suspension needs. Yes I just compared 1200 Stance coils to 1800+ Tein coils...
PCasey, how much did you get the coils for? $1200? Or less because they were from a buddy? Cheapest or only place I found the coils for sale at were on Ebay. No other vendor sells them, least based on what Google is telling me. I wonder how Stance compares to KW's.

I decided to cancel out Tanabe, since it does not have damping capabilities and have recently heard issues of leakage and poor workmanship on the parts.

I still can't gather myself to think KW is the only answer for somebody wanting decent coils while maintaining a quality ride...

yup... this would be an on going debate...

best thing to do would be to try a few different set ups as i did... jump from one car to another to another to another... tanabe, megan, kws, even compare different tein systems... and even spring set ups... theres a reason why i went this route...

likes and dislikes are all different my man... suspensions all feel different to everyone... something that feels too stiff (overkill) might not feel too stiff for someone else... i have a friend who drives his ride on MONOFLEX as his daily and loves it in the city of Los Angeles... he doesnt think monoflex is an overkill, but others might think it is... i really like his set up and its something i would even consider... and i def really enjoy my set up... wouldnt have gone a different route...my suspension meets my needs... and if i did change it up, it would be for the MONOFLEX, yes MONOFLEX as my daily... just depends what your needs are...

obviously my needs and driving demands are different than yours... my entire set up is different than yours... some go for function, others go for form with their set ups... and yes, you did compare them...

the difference with the more expensive coils is that you can actually feel a difference from one click to the next.. the cheaper the coils the more clicks it would take to get it to feel stiffer... some would have to go from end to end to feel a difference... this weekend alone i went from 12 clicks to 14 on my FLEX and i can really feel the difference from being at 12 to being at 14... im thinking that 13 would be great with my new set up...

beefy tires with even a stiffer ride for better performance... man, meets my needs...

Lol I didn't think it was that drastic. What other coils have u had on ur G? What other suspension mods do you have right now? The flex without a doubt are fantastic coils.

PCasey, refresh my memory...why did you switch to Stance then. How were the Teins overkill to Stance? I'm sure you took a loss when reselling your Teins...curious to your decision making.

i think so... two clicks from any position and i can tell a difference... i have only had the flex on my G... a friend has the ssp on his, ride with him very often to the gym to see a significant difference on the G... previous neighbor had kws v3 on his, thought they were cool... colleague has eibach springs on his G (least from top to botom)... those are on G's...

other cars, ive owned from multiple springs and shocks set ups, coilovers sleeves, coils, even tein basics on other previous set up... had set ups where the shocks and spring set up would kill the shock in 6 months, and changed under warranty, have had set ups that would bottom out, ive had set ups that dissapointed, had set up that made night and day differences... ive come a long way bro...

have changed suspension set up like u have on other vehicles multiple times in a single car and none have felt and responded like the flex... i also have eibach sways, spc f&r's and specs set for max performance, and have corner balanced as well...

have also been on other set ups that have not been on my cars... megans, tanabe, bcs, kw v1s, springs, sleeves... not impressed... but thats just me...
from my experience, other sets that have been great are kwv3s, flex, and monoflex... thats when research of these three began... did my research/hw and compared... liked the options the flex offered and went based on past experiences, likes and dislikes to pull the trigger...

i know that a set up could feel and handle great in one car and feel crappy in a different make and model as well...

would really like to know this... how was tein overkill to stance... middle (give or take on the person) setting on tein flex is like an aggressive stock with much less body rolls on corner... dont get it...

Frty, thanks for the great insight. It definitely seems you have had experience with many different set-ups, so your feedback is much appreciated.

Do you track your car often? I'm going to look a little deeper into the Tein line and see if their products will match my needs.

thats why we all come to this forum, to help each other out... believe me, ive learn so much from many here... we all have a little something to offer...

nope... dont track my car at all... just simply enjoy every moment when behind the wheel... piece of mind goes a long way when you know u have done it the right way...

one thing that ive learned throughout modding, is that the suspension is not one thing you want to cheap out on... ive learned the hard way... not because i was cheaping out, but simply because i was a nobieb once... suspension is a very vital component of the car and its what makes the driving experience pure fun... if youre not gonna go out all out with the suspension then dont bother... dont even bother modding anything else... the handling is an extremely important part of modding...

major difference between ssp and flex (flex not a track suspension, but an aggressive street one that will handle track duties if needed)... based on my research, i think the flex seperates itself from ssp and even kw3s because it offers certain things that those do not...

between ssp, kw3s, and flex...

1. ssp and flex come with the upper mount... kws do not and gotta use the oem ones w kws...
2. the lower you go, the suspension becomes softer... this will happen w ssp and kws... this may allow the suspension to bottom out in some cases... the flex however, has independent height and dampening adjustability... therefore, the dampening and compression of the shock will not suffer... the stiffness will remain the same at any height... major and one of the main reason why i went this route
3. whenever you lower a vehicle, the car no longer sits proper even if you lower it evenly on all four corners... hence the suspension suffers on turns, dips, uneven roads...etc... the flex allows for corner balancing... this option is major and a day and night option that many oversee... if only you can feel the way the car feels and handles once corner balanced... people think this is only done when tracking...WRONG!!! this is needed when lowering... do some research on corner balancing and see what reviews you read on this... trust me, you will wanna experience this when you read reviews... find reviews on corner balancing, please do!!! onces you try this you wont change to anything else that will not give u this option... one of the reasons why i went this route
4. edcf compatibility with tein

it all depends what you want from a coilover set up... some want it for form and other want form and function... if you get the Flex, you are getting both...

If you like what you read on corner balancing, then Flex is the way to go... corner balancing is not simply for tracking purposes, its so that your car handles the way it should and sits proper... look into it...

I wanted ssp at first but foud nice deal on kw v3 so I scoop it, always want to try edfc though. If I could go back I might pick up cusco with damping adjustor though
