Quick BUMP....after more research it looks like KW V3 coilovers are the cream of the crop so to speak for most on here, but man is the price steep. This is my current dilema...when it comes to suspension, I want to make sure I do it right the first time. As I mentioned ride quality is extremely important to me, but the fact I can adjust the height with coilovers has made me come to the conclusion I will be purchasing coilovers.

Now my dilema...which coilover? I was inches from pulling the trigger on the KW V3's for $1800 shipped, but backed off last minute. I'm stuck choosing between the Tanabe Sustec Pro and the KW V3's. I understand the KW's will get the nod here because you can adjust the damping with them and because most say the quality is far superior from anything else in it's class...but I need justification on the $1,000 difference between the set-ups.

I want a moderate drop with the flexibility of adjusting height, and also a supreme quality ride. I won't track the car ever and the damping adjustment is nice I guess with the KW's, but it's not HUGE for me. To sum it up guys, I need somebody to sell me on why I should choose the KW's over the Tanabe's. I sure could use the $1000 I would have left over by choosing the Tanabe's for other mods. Is KW really worth the extra cash for my preferences....for the love of god somebody help me make a decision.

1) It's damping not dampening

2) I honestly would just get Eibach springs, they don't slam your ride and maintain factory quality ride. You looking to adjust your ride height and re-align every weekend?

LOL. Thanks for the spelling correction. As far as Eibach is concerned...that's a negative. I'm not putting crap springs on my car, regardless if they "maintain" ride quality. No disrespect to you or those that use Eibach, but I had them on my Celica back in the day and it was one of the biggest mistakes I made while modding that car, period. They blew my struts and the ride was atrocious. I can go on and on about Eibach's...

I'm not going to adjust my height every weekend, but the flexibility of knowing I can is why I am going with coils. Besides, I am sure coilovers will provide me the ride quality I am looking for..especially over Eibachs. No thanks.

coils is the way to go... Tein Flex are great also! damping and height adjustment on the Flex's are independent from each other (unlike KW3's)... itll allow for corner balancing as well (day and night difference)... Flex is the way my friend...

Well if your going to drop some money on your suspension I say go with Tein Flex as well. I had them and they were fantastic. I just sold them recently because I felt they were a little overkill for what I use my car for, plus I found a great deal on Stance coils. Not many people have them and I am not sure why. I guess they just hear about KW's and automatically buy them.

I just slapped on some SWIFT SPORT SPRINGS on yesterday ....
Just the drop I wanted!!! got rid of that fat front gap ,and now I'm hangin with the cool kids. It's just a mild drop ,, if you got the funds to get coil overs there probably better but im not tryin to spend $2000+ for the top self.. So I'll just get the top self springs and use the money I saved on some rims...

I paid 330$ for the swift springs and there legit!!!!

P Casey, I have seen your pics of your ride on here and I must say you have done a fantastic job. Great work my man...

As far as the Tein's go, I hear you, but if it was overkill for you, it will be overkill for me. How are the Stance coils treating you? Would Stance satisfy what I am looking for? What about Tanabe? I want to buy them this weekend, but input from you guys helps big time.

As far as KW is concerned, you are 100% right on people hear about em and buy them. I almost made that same mistake based on reviews in this forum. But man, $2K for a suspension system I won't track just doesn't make sense...

I'll look into Stance and also still debate on the Tanabe's..

DTRAN, I heard of these springs as well and only good things, but I decided I'm going to go with coils based on my horrible experiences in the past with springs. Thanks for the recommendation tho my man. I def could use some cash savings so I myself can buy rims too. That's why I won't pull the trigger on KW's.

BlK---what you decide on? I am having difficulty determining what to do suspension wise.... I am considering doing some track time with my car but ultimately(and sad reality) I dont really see the G37 even as a limited track time car(3 per year). The vehicle is an executive sport luxury coupe and weighs a ton.

I too almost pulled the trigger on KWs simply because of heresay and then I did heavy research into the Tein Flex which I am leaning toward....but 2k+install....steep. (pay to play i guess)

Gville...sorry for the late response. I AM STILL researching and debating what route I want to go. This forum has not helped me too much in making a decision because everybody has a different opinion and majority will just say KW V3 I am assuming because they are top notch.

However, I won't be tracking my car so I think KW V3's would be an extreme waste of money. I am still debating on Tanabe coilovers and Stance GR+. I don't see many people on here with Tein coils and the research on google doesn't make them seem like a positive choice for me...so Teins are a negative.

It's down to Tanabe (No damping adjustability) or Stance GR+ (height and damping adjustability). Problem with Stance is that I can't find them for sale ANYWHERE besides Ebay. Vendors on here are sold out.

Have you made a decision yet? Seems we are in the same boat.

Over the last several months I have spent so much time researching coils not only on this thread but all over the internet. Personally, I keep going back and forth on whether or not I will be tracking my car more than 3 times per year if it at ALL!

I do think there is some bias to the KW3 but with good reason....the coils are top notch. I just got my G 6moths ago and have yet to lower it because I want to make sure I make the right choice. One day I wake up thinking Tein Flex, the next KW3, the next KW1, and the next day something different. I constantly find myself thinking Il spend about 2k on my car regardless (i.e. KW1 + front lip OR just KW3).

I have yet to fully convince myself that KW3 are overkill for a DD but at the same time I think even if you dont track your car, the KW3 coils will add to the overall enjoyment of the car. For instance, if on certain weekends you want to adjust the settings and test them out whether it be for spirited driving or to enable a certain tire/rim set up.

As a side note I do tend to succomb to purchasing quality products no matter the item( clothing, shoes,etc.). The money spent on the KW3, from what I gather, has a great return on investment.

Sit down and list the pros cons of the different coils THEN try to do some ROI analysis for the future. I am big advocate of cost benefit analysis.----Personally, I hope to keep my car for 5 years and enjoy every minute driving it. 2k investment NOW for 5 years~~~~ (5yrs)*(365days) = 1825 days, so 2k for 5 years @ ~$1.09/day to enjoy the KW3 coilovers. As my DD...hell yea I would think that for $1.09/day to enjoy an incredible ride is worth it.

DD--overcourse daily driver....dont you want to enjoy the ride?--yes, of course...do we initally want to spend the whopping 2k on our cars?no-to many, thats a lot BUT...the long term benefits IMHO outweigh the intial investment of 2k...

Pain (dropping 2k from the bank account) is only temporary....

Be smart.Budget.Save.....I sacraficed not going out and partying for 3 weeks....saved enough to buy the midnight back grille ($320)....rather than plasti dipping or some cheap stuff. The sacrafice....saving....then buying....I feel a much greater appreciation for my purchase.

Hope this helps....I think I just convinced myself to buy KW3 after rereading my own thread..haha.
