But, 10k + for brakes!? Unless you are competitively tracking the car or professionally racing, I think you are throwing your money away. The original post sounded like you are going for the BBK "look" and that can be had at a much cheaper price.
Also, if you are going to spend 10k+ in brakes, and then go on to say you have much more planned, where are you going to be at in the end in addition to the total cost of the car?
Rough estimate - 45k(car) + 10k(brakes) + ?? 10-20k (misc.)
=
$70,000 !!
As much as I love the G, I'm sure I could find a pretty awesome, more capable car, then a modded G for $70k. Especially if your willing to get something a couple years used.

I was thinking the same
Good point; however, There isn't anything rationale about modding. it s purely emotional and seeing your vision come to life. Dude has deep pockets and is putting it work. Looking forward to the reveal on this one
Don't take this the wrong way, as I am all about modding, aftermarket parts, and increasing the performance of vehicles. I have grown up building muscle era drag cars.

I don't quite understand. Is spending $10,000 to modify a $40,000 car a bad idea?
Are you suggesting he should modify using lesser quality parts because they are cheaper?
Is there a direct correlation to the price of the parts he chooses to the price of an Infiniti G37?
Would $10,000 be better spent on a $50,000 car? Or a $100,000 car?

They aren't going to understand. Since they question that, why would people even mod a Honda Civic since the cost of the mods you spend will be worth more than the price of the car. Same goes for any 240sx. My CCW's were almost the same price as my car... Should I have gotten something beyond cheaper?
