Good stuff, man... Seems as though you're being thorough. As I said, good luck with the decision.

Stock Akebono >>>>>> Ksport haha.

Half the caliper size, double the performance.

^ I'm sure he's just making assumptions. I know for a fact he has not had Ksport kit.

My advice, if you like the Ksport kit that's all that matters. Im sure you've done your research and I personally don't know of anyone on this forum that has the Ksport bbk. Never even knew they had one til you mentioned it. Call Ksport and see what they say about they're performance and history/track testing/warranty/reliability... Maybe check some other forums as well for other cars that Ksport make BBK for.

Or you could always save up a little more and go with another kit. I don't personally know anything about Ksport so I wouldn't put it on my car, unless you think you're getting some killer deal... Btw, what happened; thought you were saving up for a S/C?

Ill keep doing research and post as i learn more. As of now i find them a very attractive option in looks and in function (as far as i have researched). I know in the end the only way i will really know is if i make the purchase. I have read people with BC racing is junk, but ive had them for ~8k km with no issues, rattles, rusting, chipping, clunking or harsh ride (i even drove them in -40C weather with no issue).

So i suppose everything is subjective. I may just have to be the guinea pig this time!
Unless you're looking for 100% form and 0% function, K-sport should not even be a consideration.

More is not better, and bigger is not better, when it comes to brakes. They need to be properly matched to your specific application.

why do you say 0% functions? Im not defending ksport in any way. But everyone says they are bad, but have no evidence to back it up. Im gonna probably wait till im out of warrantly for the SC kit

Ksport = Rotora = Alliance = Megan = D2 = any other cheap brakes.

You buy them for bling, not for performance. There is no engineering involved in their designs.

Do you trust your life to a cheap Taiwanese part?

Pistons aren't sealed, design is generic, tiny little pistons, billet aluminum construction.... I can go on and on.

That's correct.

Stopping distance and power will be unchanged. Stopping longevity may be enhanced, just because its bigger (more mass).

In fact, your stopping distance may actually get WORSE from having more unsprung rotating mass...

Yes.

The benefits are modulation (which is also pad dependent) and increased mass. In some cases, it'll result in cheaper operating costs, but that doesn't apply to street cars at all.

So are you suggesting stick to stock brakes or Akebonos with upgraded pads?

Unless you're doing it just for bling, yes.

Easier on the wallet too

so basically, if you were a grocery getter and occasional spirited driver (not me, but just saying) and had a BBK kit on the car, its almost better to just downgrade the brakes?
