Are rotors covered under manufacture warranty?

Greetings:

My 09 G37x brakes have been pulsating since I bought it new. The dealer resurface the front rotors at 803, then once again at 11,492 miles. I drop the car at the dealer today for oil filter change and pulsating again at 22,400 miles and they ask to replace front and rear rotors for $1000 ($480 each). Are the rotors supposed to be covered under warranty?

Thanks.

I don't think they are, but I believe dealers will cover under goodwill depending on the use? Perhaps someone can confirm.

The wifes 08 G35 had brake judder, so the dealer resurfaced the rotors and installed backing plates or something on the pads (per TSB ITB09-037b). I believe in this particular case if the rotors could not be resurfaced, they would have replaced free of charge. Now, her mileage is less than 24,000kms (15,000 miles). So, that may have been why. Also, her brake pads are still good (implying light use).

If you have about 22,000 miles, and showing lots of pad wear, they may have concluded warping rotors due to driving style...maybe.

I think generally brakes are considered wear and tear items.

Hope that helps. Hopefully someone else can provide a better answer.

Check out the tsb for brake judder and see if your car applies.

I had bad vibrations and they resurfaced them, then the vibrations kept going so I insisted on getting new rotors replaced under the TSB.

There is no reason why you should need to resurface your rotors every other oil change. Ridiculous.

My dealer told me that there was a TSB out on pulsating brakes (for the 08's at least) and that they would replace the rotors at no charge. The pads also if they were 50% or less.

You should check with the dealer before laying out any cash. They just replaced the rotors on the front of my 08 G37S at 58,000 miles.

My '04 G35 (sport pkg) was going through brakes at 20k miles. Even sport brakes should last a lot longer than that, so Infiniti stepped up and covered the brakes under warranty, at least for that model year.

The dealer changed my brakes, twice, at no cost to me, resurfacing once and replacing the rotors once.

I'd ask for the same courtesy, since you seem to be having a similar issue.
