Lug Nuts

Hello: I poder coated my 2008 g37s wheels today and the company did not do the lug nuts.... I was just going to buy "black lug nuts" ... found a lot on the internet... HOWEVER just read some other posts that its not safe? Does anyone know if there are any that are safe for the stock wheels....

I think the most important thing is to get decent quality lugs, and make sure they are exactly the same as stock.

The stock nuts arent your old-school lugs. They have a flange and an integrated washer. Without the flange you run the risk of the lug holes in the wheels cracking under "spirited" (or maybe even everyday with lots of pot holes) driving.

It might be cheaper and easier to just have them powdercoat the lug nuts for you. Or, put the wheels on with the lug nuts as they are (chrome) and see how it looks....you never know!

I'd like to add to this discussion.

What size do we buy? I found that you can get 12x1.5 or 12x1.25. I read that our Infiniti's are 12x1.25. Is this only for open ended? Is there anything else we need to know?

Also, do our stock rims take tapered lug nuts? I see the aftermarket ones are tapered for new wheels and they say they won't work with stock rims, but what about ours since they are "aftermarket" rims of sorts.

Thanks!

Stock wheels will only work with stock lugs. Case dismissed and close thread.

I'm more concerned about the other way around. Will stock lug nuts work with other wheels? Do ALL aftermarket wheels need a new, more tapered lug nut, or just some?

EDIT: Oh yeah, I should have specified I'm more concerned about the right size we need to buy for aftermarket...so sorry to thread jack.

Lug nut size is 12x1.25
Stock nuts do not work on aftermarket wheels.
