I'm rubbing too now since I added spacer.. Gonna check tomorrow whether I'm hitting the bracket or liner. I think it's the bracket though, only during right turns up driveways and stuff like that.
still no pics eh? Coilovers are here and I'd like to get in there and know what to trim ahead of time if they rub. What part of the fender liner rubs usually...the protrution that covers the bumper bracket?
^^thanks for the pics. I kinda knew this was the bracket, but just wanted to make sure.
In the extreme case, people are shaving this bracket to the point where the bolt isn't performing it's function (securing the bumper to rear 1/4 panel)? If so, does the bumper hang?
I shaved mine down to where it will still function but has the minimal amount around it and hammered the metal tab upward. People have removed it all together with no reported issues........yet.
^ I think this bolt is not entirely needed bc of the OEM snap joints (like 6 on either side) that hold the bumper pretty well even without this screw. Im driving without these screws right now and bumper is rock solid. Now with an aftermaket fascia that doesnt use the OEM snap points...different story
@raixincayne - Thanks for the pics by the way! I had a good feeling it was this bracket but pics always help. Correct me If Im wrong but your bracket is still factory you just trimmed the fender plastic?
With the aftermarket rear bumper, you DO need the bumper screw
I'm just going off the info in this thread but, aftermarket bumpers do not have the 6 snap joints on either side? And this is the reason for the bolt necessity?
In other words, if your aftermarket bumper has the snap joints->you could shave the bolt off?
