Are wheel spacers safe?

Simple question, maybe not so simple answer. Are wheel spacers safe? What is everyone's opinion? Also, I always hear you want to get hubcentric spacers, what is it about a spacer that makes it hubcentric?

I have been running spacers for 6K miles, no problem.

Dont buy cheap fleabay ones.

Mine are H&R brand.

Do a search on hubcentric vs boltcentric

Hubcentric refers to helping center the wheel on the hub, which will reduce vibration that can occur with just regular bolt-ons.

Like any modification, are perfectly safe if installed and maintained properly. They are easy to install, you just need to ensure proper torque on spacers and wheels. Then you should check them every once in a while to make sure that they are maintaining proper torque.

+1 for H&R.

Did some more research and found that hubcentric are perfectly safe if installed and torqued correctly. The hub flange accepts the center hole in the wheel, acting like an extension of the axle. Stillen's website was selling H&Rs for like 140, although I couldnt tell if that was for a set of 4 or individual because if not...yikes.

I use DRMs. Due to the fact I will change sizes when I need tires.

Its a toss up.

DRS
Longer studs can be weaker, and if you change sizes often, you can elongate the holes in your hubs.

DRM
You have to worry about checking the torque on twice as many nuts.

Not to jack your thread. Just FYI.
Have H&Rs 15mm front and 20mm rear on my IS250 for 4 yrs (40K + miles) without any problems. No vibration or noise. Still have them on.

Not running spacers on on MY G coz I'm flushed with my current setup.
