Well I got my 20" Forgestar F10s mounted and balanced on some 255-30-20, 285-35-20 yesterday. I'm running tanabe sustec pros with about a 1.25" drop in the front and rear. I got an alignment done on the car (I have aftermarket front and rear camber kits) with -1.3 camber in the front and -1.8 in the back. My front is rubbing the fender pretty bad and the wheel has a 32 offset. If I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right it'll rub, but when I'm driving it'll be fine unless I hit a nice size dip.

Any ideas on the amount of negative camber I should run in the front to alleviate the rubbing issues, or will I have to drop to a 245 tire for the front?

I'm surprised you're not rubbing in the rear, that's a thick tire.

I think the best solution is running 245 in the front, there's already enoguh camber as is.

I was looking at 255/35-20's and 285/30-20's.

If you got those numbers right, that front is an inch shorter than stock. And the rear is over an inch taller.

 

It's the overall width of the tire that's causing the problem and my camber kit only supports up -1.5, I'm already at -1.3 so there's not much help there. I'm either going to have to drop the size to 245 in the front or raise the height in general.

 

I just had 245/35/20 for front
and 275/30/20

I'm not lowered,but the front has more gap on top of the wheel than the rear.

255 for the front is to much idk?
my rears rubbed once that's it.

 

Just got off the phone with my mechanic, supposedly he can run up to another 2 degrees of negative camber, so I'm going to try running another half degree of negative camber to bring it to -1.8 Monday. I'll let everyone know the outcome.

 

bump! I had the car's height adjusted due to the problem not being camber, but the overall height. Unfortunately Tanabe's coilovers are only height, not compression adjustable. I had to raise the car 3/4 of an inch higher. Now I'm going to gradually drop it until I get a nice drop without rubbing issues. I would assume I'm around 0.75" drop in the front, so we'll go from there.

Fender measurements in the front are 27" and the rears are 26 1/2".

 

Fenders measure 26 3/4" front and 27 1/8" rear on Eibachs with stock wheels and tires. Just trying to give you some sort of reference.

By the way, that was on level ground correct?

 

Level ground in the garage. Measured on passenger side. If you want more info let me know, I'll measure all four corners for you (or anywhere else).

 

Thanks Void, I'm sure 26 3/4" is enough. I'm happy with the rear sitting at 26 1/2 with no issues rubbing anymore running a 285 tire on a 10.5" wheel. My front WAS 26 1/4" which would equate to about 1.75" which was way too low for the Tanabe.

 

Are the measurements the same on the drivers side? Reason I ask is they are not the same after my drop.

I'm running 255.35R20 in front on 9.5" wheel on Eibachs with no problems ever... Not sure if you have your coils set all the way down or if it is the offset, but 285.35R20 would scare me in the back..

Hopefully they can get the negative camber right so there is no more rubbing.
