tires

new g37 awd...stock rims...stock eagle rs-a tires (225-55-17)

ok, so the eagles are not even close to being the tire this car needs

seems choices for a uhp a/s or reasonably priced summer tire are limited in the 225-55-17 size

what size tire (on the oem rim) can I go to that won't affect the speedometer or change the overall circumference by much...looking to get more choices in tires on tirerack

thanks for your help

if you are keeping the OEM wheels then just keep the aspect ratio the same as the OEM tires and it doesn't matter what width you get (so if you get wider tires, get a lower aspect ratio).

even bigger wheels won't affect the speedometer as long as the aspect ratio is taken into consideration with the tires

Here are the three sizes you can use. Tire rack doesn't have any sizes for your 17's in the 40 series or 60 series that wouldn't throw off your speedometer.

225-55-17
245-50-17
275-45-17

For the price of 4 new 17" tires, you could buy some members used OEM 18" wheel and tire package, that's what I'd recommend.

Many use a 245/50-17, but you have a much better tire selection in the stock 225's.

thanks Neal and for the other responses

so 245-50-17 is safe to use for spirited driving?

225-55-17 has the new Goodyear Eagle UHP A/S and 245-50-17 has the Conti DWS...I think the DWS is on backorder, though...spoke to Continental and they said the supply just cant keep up with the demand for the DWS

225-55-17 also has the new Pirelli PZero Nero All-Season

beyond these choices (excluding a pure summer tire), I don't know anything else worth considering in the hp a/s or uhp a/s range...any other suggestions? between the Eagle and the Pirelli, which has the best overall performance? and what about long-term wear?
