Anyone have a suggestion for good track tires that will also be used for daily driving for the Stock 19s that come on the S coupe. Looking for better grip at decent value. Thanks in advance.

Your problem is you want track and street tires in one. The tires you can buy that are good on the track that are street legal are not at all cheap and they will wear out very very quickly in everyday driving.

I'm not concerned with wear from street driving, I drive about 100-150 miles a week tops. Not that concerned about how much they cost either, within reason. Just want better preformance on track but no slick as I dont want to fly off the road in the rain

These Pilot Sport Cup Michelins would work well but they are pricey.

Thanks for the suggestion... but it says they shouldnt be driven on extremely wet roads or in freezing temperatures. To my suprise, we get plenty of both in Dallas. I think I'm going to try either the Nitto Invo or Nitto NT05... unless someone else has a good suggestion.

Nitto Invo is a great tire but not good with rain. I was thinking to get either Invo or Flaken FK 452, and I went for Falken and great tires IMO.

I'll check out the Falken, thanks! Do you know from experience that the Invo is bad in rain?

There are no ultra high performance tires let alone DOT competition tires that can be used in freezing conditions. I think the warning about the use of the tires in the rain was more for track condition where there is standing water and heavy down pour conditions more a CYA by Michelins lawyers. Unless you have like Goodyear Aquatreads your going to hydroplane in those conditions.
If you dont buy a tire like the Pilot Cup you might as well get any of the "high performance" line up from Nitto,Kumho, etc. as there is no other tire that comes in the proper sizes that has a "track oriented" tread compound.

How aggressive of a track tire are you looking for? DOT compounds or full slicks?


Current UHP/EHP tires are within 1 second of DOT R-Comps on the track around a 2 minute course. The performance levels of street tires are shockingly good.

I don't have experience about that but I heard that from most of tire shops and my friend has Invo on his 350z, he has complained about that.

Nitto NT05 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 are the closest to OEM tire diameter.

Bridgestone RE-11 255/35/19 and 265/35/19 or 275/30/19 are smaller in diameter, which will improve tire feel/response, as well as make your gearing slightly more agressive, giving you improved acceleration. This is an all-around superior tire to the NT05 (albiet, at a higher cost)

Yokohama AD08 255/35/19 and 265/30/19 or 275/30/19 is the other high-dollar choice. Again, superior to the NT05 in every way, and comparable to the RE-11, but again, at a higher cost.

Keep in mind, the NT05 is 7/32 brand new, while the RE-11 is 9/32 and AD08 is 10/32 brand new, so the cost difference is effectively moot if you wear your tires down to the wear bar (or cord) before you replace them.


Falken FK452, while cheap, is not a competitive tire at all if performance is your biggest concern. The flagship RT615 is a few generations behind as well.

Kumho XS, Dunlop Z1SS, and Hankook RS3 do not come in sizes that would fit the stock 19's.

Definitely not full slicks... im not exactly sure what the difference between DOT compounds and a "ultra-high performance" street tire is... can you educate?

NT05 NT05 NT05!!! Not too many people know about these tirese yet since they just came out early last year. With my 430whp Z, I had Drag Radials on and always had a hard time getting traction in 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th, when I put the NT05's on, my only issue was 1st gear and a small chirp in 2nd. Otherwise they were like glue. I guarantee it will be the best purchase you've made for you G. I am not a rep of Nitto either, I am just amazed at the quality of those tires.

(I live in Vegas, no rain and no cold so I can't tell you anything about that)
