Winter Rims

Hey Guys,

Since I have a 2005 G35 6MT with a the stock 18 rims that came with it, I purchased a set of 17 rims (BSA 329) for winter. Now moving up to a G37S, I wanted to know if the 17x7.5 will clear the Akebono brakes on these? I am afraid that I would have to purchase new 18s if this is the case.

Thanks

Hey, since you live in Montreal what size rims are on your G37? I know Quebec has mandatory legislation that winter tires must be used during the winter.

Great I need to find out who will buy my BSA 329 17" rims with Dunlop Winters on them. I would be more than happy to trade in these for 18" and tires and pay the difference if it made sense for anyone.

Since the G37S sedan are in staggered config do I need to maintain this in winter too?

Will check them out and locally too. I have a set of BSA 329 17" rims with Dunlop M6 Winters on them with pretty good tire life left. I wouldn't mind if someone wanted to get rid of their 18s for my 17s

a trade would not likely happen

Still shopping around for winters and I think I am going to settle on either the Blizzak LM-60s or the Dunlop Graspic DS-3s. Anyone have any experience with them? I wondering which rims I should get. I am thinking of either the MSW type 11s or the type 20s. What do you think?

The Bridgestone is designed around more mild climates or areas where you see plowed roads rather than accumulation. Designed as a sport winter tire. The Dunlop has a more aggressive design for harsher climates that see a lot of consistent accumulation.

The B-Stone would handle clear days better but not as good on the really bad days... the Dunlop better on the bad days but not as tight handling on the clear days. Both work well just in different ways.

So Neal, what do you recommend as a good all around tire for both types of weather? Also what is the difference between a passenger winter tire and a performance winter tire. I though winter tires are winter tires just differences in performance as you mentioned.
