Dealer fvcked up one of my rims!
Ever since I took delivery on the car two weeks ago from Ray Catena, I had a slight vibration at 70-75. Had an appointment this morning to have the balance checked. They said the left front was out of balance and rebalanced all 4 wheels. After I get home from picking it up, I did a little inspection of the wheels because I saw some tar marks on the left rear wheel, where it looks like the balancer retainer cone goes. I found that the tar marks come off, but there was also a fresh piece of rash right on the edge that was definitely not there. These rims have yet to meet a curb since I have a driveway.
Anyway, I take it back to have the manager look at it. I thought they were gonna be ****s and try to claim innocence, but he said he would replace the rim no problem. I got absolutely no hassle at all. Only thing is they want me to wait til my first oil change to have it replaced. I only have 1200 miles now, so it could be October/November before I get the oil changed. Plus, I change my own oil. But I did get the manager to give me in writing that he would replace it, so I guess it's not a big deal!

You could be persistent and demand they replace it now, or you could be patient and understanding and wait till the oil change. If you are patient they may tend to give you an easier time in the future with stuff. I personally have found it helps a ton to have a good relationship with your dealership if at all possible. It just depends on how much it bothers you.
Crappy of them to damage it, but at least they manned up and admitted it and are going to make it right, even if they take their time.

Yeah, I felt that way too. But I guess the tech hoped I wouldn't notice! Or maybe one of the car washers did it! Who knows?! It wasn't parked near a curb. Maybe the tech scraped the lift on the way out.

The crazy thing is I was expecting damage, but not to the rims. I was thinking they were gonna chip the calipers up when putting the wheels back on. But the calipers are clean. Just that ugly scuff!

very nice!! The dealership RUINED my g35 coupe wheels when I had them replace the tires, the techs used their dirty tire gloves and stained all four of my rims (which btw I had sealed with Zaino Clear Seal after EVERY wash) and RUINED everything, the rims never looked shiney again and they never claimed responsibility for it. That is why I got my G37 else where..
glad to hear that they gave you no hassle..

I noticed more and more scratches on my wheels after service at Ray Catena. Thier customer service is ok, but at the end of the day when I was negotiating for a new car a the end of my lease, they treated me horrible....So i did what any intelligent person would do and went back to a better car......BMW.
