take 2 piece wheels apart

Quick question.

I did a search and couldn't find anything on this.

I have a set of MHT's 2 piece wheels and I want to get the face powder coated. Can I seperate the wheels without removing the tires? I can't see why not but you never know.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers

yea you can. one thing though is you should try to match the face up to each barrel and where it came off at. not sure you can do it b/c your going to be powdercoating the whole face. This way when you bolt them back in, the rim will still spin properly. not sure i am making any sense with this

Makes complete sense. Thanks for the info... Removing bolts now lol.. I'm assuming when I put them back together I should use some kind of lock tight.

Are they 12 points? Most bolts I have seen have been.

+1 to this.

I also remember hearing something about re-tightening the fasteners to the correct torque rating to make the wheels perfectly round. I guess if you tighten them too much or too little, the wheels will not be hub-centric (or perfectly round) and will shake at higher speeds. I don't know if this applies to your wheels or not, but you might want to contact MHT to make sure (but I would imagine it would being a two-piece wheel). I know mine were put together torqued to a certain rating and then pressure tested to achieve a perfect roundness and to be hub-centric.

yup. they need to be torqued to a specific #. too much will cause stress i guess and too little will cause them to go bye bye
