If you are stock height on the OEM engine cover, you will be doing yourself a favor in the long run by adding some clearbra now if scratches are going to bother you. And if you sit it too low, it will scratch the paint on the engine cover....you can only see the engine cover scratches when the bar is off. I played around a lot before having the bar powdercoated and what worked for me was (1) lowered engine cover DIY (posted elsewhere), (2) mounted bar about 3 credit cards off OEM, (3) powdercoated to cover existing scratches. Good luck.
Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead.....but I was wondering how your bar has held up over the past few months since you installed it? I just ordered mine from Andy at HPA. Do I need to try and find some clearbra material to protect the bar from scratches? Or is your's scratch-free?

sorry its been so long and you probably already have it but yeah if you want it to remain scratch free get it clearbra'd, mine has lots of scratches on top but i dont really care that much.

Yeah....mine is already on the car and I didn't get any clearbra material. There are a few TINY scuffs so no biggie. I don't show off my engine bay THAT often, so I'm ok with it. I'd MUCH rather have the performance out of it.

I think it definetely helps at higher speeds, I have Stillen sway bars on the car too which make a huge difference so the strut bar wasn't as noticable as it would be in a car with OEM sways.
