GT Spec Rear Lower Tie Brace: need info

So I'm looking at some bracing to help stiffen up the girlfriends car and I can not for the life of me figure this thing out. Where does it mount to? How does it mount to it? What is it stiffening? I see this picture every time I look it up and there is a hand holding the bar in some location behind the rear axle (I think). Can anyone give me more details on this bar?

Does the car in this picture have rear steer or something?

You can see where it mounts in the picture in this posting:

Get sway or front tower strut if you want to feel a bigger difference in terms of stiffness. If you willing to spend $$$ just get coils

Thanks Ham. You're going to have to show me how to quote a single post some time. I can see that it's attached to the rear control arms it that picture.

NJ, do you have that brace? I can not see how that bar does anything. That rear frame where the control arms are attached looks healthy enough.

BJ, stay on topic. It was a typo, I'm drunk.

VIP, not doing the coil thing but other braces are already in the works.

yes i do have it...everything looks good, but more bracing in a area where theres flexing cant hurt...it helps for sure...or i woulda sold it...

LOL

get some eibachs...small drop better handling, not much worse then stock ride

gt spec fstb- def feels great

lower front tie braces form gt spec...def feels great

rear lower tie bar from gt spec...prob the least of all the braces but does make a difference...id say get the front stb and rear tie brace at the same time at least...or get all 3 at once...

I don't have this brace yet but I've had a similar one on a different car. I originally thought the same as you - it doesn't do anything. WRONG! It helps a lot. I didn't realize what a difference it made until I had it on for several months and then took it off and drove without it. It makes a noticeable difference. Again it wasn't the GT spec brace or on a G37, but the principle's the same.

That was one I stumbled on a while back. Probably in some instructions somewhere, but who reads those? Just poke the post # and it will open a window with just the one post. Then copy url and paste it into your reply.

So you been ? Enjoy!

NJ, I'm way ahead of you (your suggestions that is).

BB, I remember you saying that before and it's stuck in my head.

Ham, thanks for the tip. I'm on a lot of different forums and couldn't figure that out.
