Okay, so remind me again, how exactly is this "normal?" Paying $40K+ for a car that has squeaky brakes straight out of the lot?? I told the dealer about this once and they said they dusted the brakes, but it didn't help. Just raising this thread from the grave cuz the squeak annoyed me this morning...

I've heard (again, HEARD) that it's a side affect of having a BBK. Our discs (on the Sport models at least) are 14" and 13.8" out back. Something about having big discs makes it squeak while reversing. But then again, I know that some people with aftermarket BBK's don't have squeeking while reversing. So I

Take it to the dealer and have them clean the brakes... mine did this all winter and the dealer said it was normal... I complained, they cleaned the brakes (don't know what specifically) and it's completely gone.

I took it to the dealer and they " turned the rotors". Seemed like a plausible solution due to glazing while the car sat on the lot but now it's back. Could be the pads, they are low dust pads which i love coming from a BMW but until they warm up they squeal. Oh well........

The squeak you hear is normal. The noise is because the brakes are cold and need to be warmed up a bit. I hear my brakes some times when I'm stopping at a light early in the morning. Than a couple seconds later it goes away.

So it seems we are all experiencing the same squeaking noise and all. My question is, would this go away with aftermarket rotors and pads? this is seriously annoying and somewhat embarrassing to rock this car and have breaks that sound like they are way overdue for replacement.

Wow, first time I've heard of this... doesn't do it here, but then my car's been a cherry. Slotted/dimple rotors probably help to keep the pads clean as well.
