I suspect it is like my last BMW... get good winter rubber and don't take it out when there is a foot of snow and you will be just fine. Rear wheel drive cars are not bad at all in winter (I live in Canada so I have a little experience with snow) if you have the right equipment (i.e. a good set of winter tires).

I heard from other forums that the G37 spins out like crazy on snow. I wanted to wait for the 09 and get the AWD but it will only be available in the AT not the 6MT ...which is GHEY AS ****!

I notice you live in NOVA also, I was thinking of buying a beater car but really didnt want to spend the money. I am contemplating on just being extra careful this winter. Did the tires grip alright when it was very cold but no snow on the ground? I am assuming you just didnt drive it if any snow accumulation was on the ground.

Driving in snow or below freezing temps is nutz with summer setup. You are asking for it
Mine goes in the garage December 1 and does not come out untill all the snow is gone!!

everyone always thinks RWD cars are horrendous in snow.. it gives us a bad reputation! Now obviously a AWD car will fare better but we can hold our own with a set of dedicated snow tires im sure.

A Canadian here and I have gone one winter with the G. Traction control on and a set of winter tires and this car does just fine in the snow. Do a search and you will find more threads about this. I got caught in a snow storm the first weekend I got the car still did not have my winter tires. The car did ok on the 50 Km drive from the city to my house. But i would not recomend doing that all the time. Deffinatly get a set of winter tires. I went with 18" michelin pilot alpins. Gives a good ballance between perfomance for when the roads are dry in the winter and grip for those stormy days.

I've got a set of 18" wheels and some Vrederstein snow tires and never had a problem last year. We got a record 140" of snow, and the car did fine. I kept VDC on at all times and never had a problem. My buddy, who didn't think he needed winter wheels and tires almost wrapped the car around a few trees in the snow- Later that week, he had winter wheels and tires. Stock tires below 32 degrees are worthless.
