VCD Slip Light

I noticed that when I am taking a 90 degree turn in second gear, I always see my slip light blink. My slip light also blinks when I go over train tracks or a pothole/bump in the road and I have my foot on the gas.

Keep in mind I am not mashing the gas, this is through residential neighborhoods and I am only at 4/10ths.

I know some people might say it's because I have blizzaks and it's the winter but today in NJ it was 67 degrees and it was happening all day, even after my tires were sufficiently warmed up. It also happened with the Potenza's before I switched to my winters.

When I had a 350Z I had to be pretty aggressive to see a slip light. I feel like they forgot to give me a LSD!

Anyone else experience this?

yes, same thing happens to me too. whenever i try to push the gas down harder than i used too, the slip light will come on. you are not the only one that this has happen too, it is not a bad thing either, just turn off the vdc.

edit: also when i try to turn into an angle at a fast pace, the clutch would depress itself, is this normal?

I wouldnt do normal driving with traction off... To me that could save you from losing it sometime...

i love the slip light. its taught me in the early days with the G what was enough and not. you can go fast and aggressive without it going off. you got to ease on the gas a little more nd its a rocket

The light is going to go off everytime the car senses even the slightest loss of traction. So like you said going over the train tracks there are spaces and if you are giving it gas the car is going to sense that loss of traction and throw the light.....

The Blizzaks on the rear are a little narrower than the stock potenzas. I know that you can only get them in 225s. So yeah you are putting down more power than was intended for that size tire on that car resulting in loss of traction more often.

My blizzaks are the same OEM size, 225/45/19 front and 245/40/19 rear. It's gotten much better as the tires broke in. I was on new tires in the dead of winter, forgot that you need to drive about 500 miles to get rid of that initial "crust" that new tires have.

i also find the VCD light to be strange.. i don't know if any of you took it to a road course yet but if i find the intervention to be very inconsistent.. and btw, even when you turn it off.. this is one of the those cars that will still intervene when you are driving really hard.

maybe cause i have the 4was? too bad its impossible to drive a non-4was version here.

Hey where did you find those? I was looking on tirerack and they only had 225ss. I even looked on Bridgestones website and nothing in 245s other than our OEM tire...

edit: I just did a search by tire name and it came up that way... I guess I didn't search hard enough the first time.

I think they ran out of stock of the 245s at Tirerack b/c shortly after I got mine at the dealers, they were only advertising (4) 225s for the G37 on tirerack.com.

Personally, I was debating whether or not to get 225s all around or the OEM size. I eventuall went with the OEM size b/c I moved from Boston to NJ and the weather is alot milder (ie: I care a lil more about traction than snow) and don't regret it at all. It looks much better on the stock tires. We've only got 2" of snow this winter. Damn global warming.
