Can anybody explain? I'd ask Z1, but I already asked them why they don't have Hawk HPS on their site for the Nissan BBK Sport Brake setup, and they responded with a link to their Hawk HP Plus... which isn't the same thing. Thought that was odd.

Anyway, which one of these is OEM? I'm thinking it's the Z1 listing, and the Tirerack listing is a different pad made by Akebono.

Z1 Motorsports, OEM Nissan Sport Brake Pads

TireRack.com, Akebono performance ceramic pads for the Nissan Sport Brakes

OEM, or OEM NISMO? I don't think those are the NISMO pads. Mine were orange.

Hi, Lego. No, not those. I don't think there's any ambiguity about the Nismo pads. They're certainly an option.

However, if I were to simply go OEM, and when researching OEM replacement for the Nissan BBK, I don't understand which is which.

1. Are the OEM pads also made by Akebono, like the calipers and rotors, or are they Nissan?
2. Are Z1's "OEM" pads actually the same as the pads my car came with?
3. Or are Tire Rack's "Akebono Sport" pads the same as the pads my car came with?

It's not clear to me yet.

Sorry, didn't understand your question. They could all very well be the same pad, just rebranded as Nissan/Z1 etc. Note my NISMO pads say Ferodo in the corner.

So I'm still trying to figure out the differences between these two:

OEM from Z1 Motorsports
https://www.z1motorsports.com/front-...et-p-3811.html

Akebono Sport from Tirerack
https://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brak...oModClar=Sport

I chatted with Tirerack, and they tell me their Akebono ASP1346 and ASP1347 Sport pads qualify as OEM replacements, but are *not* the OEM pads. I suspect ACT1346 and ACT1347 are rebranded as OEM Nissan pads for the big brakes, whereas their ASP1346 and ASP1347 are their aftermarket performance pads. Anyway, I'm liking the ratings and the description on the ASP models: virtually zero noise, very low dust ceramics, good stopping power, pre-cooked with no bed-in procedure.

Fronts and rears are $133 at Tirerack, or $122 through Amazon.

Good find! I will have to keep this in mind when my pads finally go. These could easily qualify as the cheapest set of brake pads I have ever purchased.

What do you think about those Akebono Sport pads from Tirerack? I feel like I'm leaning into getting them. My guess is same as or slightly better than the original pads, guaranteed fitment, pre-scorched, quiet, dustless-ish and great price.

Internet shopping for car parts, LOL

Those are the ones that caught my eye since they are ceramic, cheap, and actually branded by Akebono. How could you go wrong? Even if they are awful it's not like you are breaking the bank. I say go for it!

Oh... 2020 I guess.

First I'd like to have the hats and calipers redone to match the engine compartment scheme.

Hey Rochester- did you get your Akebono pads yet? I picked some up today because my front brakes finally started making the light squealing noise like the wear indicators are just starting to make contact.

Not yet. I've scheduled the pads as a February expense. With the holidays and all, lots of other money flying out of my wallet for household stuff and the girls.

Anyway, those pads you bought are ACT1346 and ACT1347. The Akebono Sport Pads are ASP1346 and ASP1347. The "ASP" pads are the ones I'm planning on.

Are the ProACT pads really the ones you wanted? If so, why? I can't recall if you swap pads for your track days or not.

Yes, I picked these pads due to the low dust for the street. Are these the pads we have stock? I have really aggressive Carbotech pads for track days.

That seems like a reasonable guess, but IDK. Be interesting if you prove that out.
