Sport Brake Squeal Help!

I have the sport model and i got my brakes done about two months ago (front and rear) and recently the squeal that happens under light braking is driving me nuts. I searched the forums and found only something about shims being needed or that is just the way it is with the big brakes. I figured i would ask everyone here to see if there is any sort of fix for this? maybe my mechanic missed something or maybe there is some sort of trick you guys know to end the high pitched noise every time i am backing out of somewhere or try to park late at night and wake up some neighbors! Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

You can try to do a couple of hard braking to "clean off" the surface of the rotors. If it happens in reverse only you can try it in reverse. If that doesn't work than you can just take it to a shop and pay them to cut your rotors.

I had this problem relentlessly. After turning the rotors multiple times and two sets of oem pads I gave up and bought aftermarket. DBA 4000 T3 series front and rear and a hawk 5.0 pad all around. I'm not too satisfied with the pad but the rotors are excellent and not a single friggin squel. It's finally gone!

Lubricate the back of the shims where they contact the pistons and calipers with brake lube. Solves 99% of noise problems

thanks for the tips guys. I have tried the hard braking before i reverse and its still there. It looks weird to outside people when i do it too hahah!

i think i will ask my mechanic to try lubricating the back of the shims with brake lube before buying all new rotors and pads. Hopefully this will help, i cant afford a whole new brake setup at this time of year especially.

Did you get aftermarket? Typically higher performance = more squeal. I went with oem akebonos and although stopping power is reduced, there is no more squeal.

Prior to that, I had my brakes checked out twice and both mechanics said my brakes looked fine.

the parts were sourced from the Nissan Dealer across the street from my mechanic but i didn't actually see the boxes for, or the parts themselves to double check

Just tell him to turn your rotors. He may only charge you like $15/rotor.. Takes like 5 minutes to cut each rotor. In my experience most squealing is not caused by lack of shim/backing plate lubrication.

Just an FYI, the sport sedan model does not come with the stock sport brakes. That is only for the coupe.

^^Sure it does. The g37S sedan has 4 piston fixed caliper brakes front and and 2 piston fixed in the rear.

I beg to differ. The coupe simply has bigger brakes, hence "sport." Sedan brakes are smaller. The sedans sport features are all cosmetic. I own a G37x S myself.

That is the journey (or x) with the sport package. The true sport sedan (6MT) does indeed get the sport brakes.

Yes, the g37xs sedan is a watered down version with mainly cosmetic sport bits. The g37s (note, no x), has all the sports bits (brakes, suspension, vlsd, different steering, and some other things).

please don’t comment on something if you’re not 100% sure when it comes to helping ppl out on this forum. And do some research as the Sport non X sedans do come stock with sport brakes
