Coils on!

Coils on!
Finished installing Tein Flex Z coilovers. Had to lift the front about an inch after this picture was taken. I've got the Tein springs in the rear with OEM shocks. I think they sent the wrong rear shocks. Still looks pretty good. Rides good even with the floaty rear end. Handling is nice and tight.

Yep, they are for the coupe. I spoke with a representative with Tein U.S. and they haven't had a G37 vert to test on. I told him I'd send him my results so perhaps they could offer a vert kit in the future. I'm going to contact the shop I got them from and see what I need to do to exchange them and get replacements. I had the fronts waaaay to low when I installed them. The rear is about as low as you can get safely and I'm still wary on bumps till I get the adjustable ones in there. The fitment wasn't bad length wise and what not. But it's a bracket fitment instead of a ball fitment. The bottom needs to be like the front oem. Which brings me to wonder if front coils could be used in the rear and just do away with the spring all together.

Something in the 10k range would sound about right in back, but the front is what would concern me using coupe springs vs. vert specific springs, the vert. rates are quite a bit higher, like 15-16k IIRC, your coupe springs are probably in the 12k range.

I would think the spring rate of the front coilovers should be roughly the same for both, wouldn't it?
The spring rate in the rear is usually lower than in the front for the vert?

Looks like BC uses a 12/8k combo, Ksport uses a 16/8.7k and those are the only two vert specific coilovers that I can find???
So if your springs rates fall into those ranges at least you're in the ball park

Aight, that makes sense when I read it out loud... Those vert specific kits, do they use an actual coilover in the rear and go without the spring? I've made contact with the vendor and sent them some pics and told them what I was wanting to do. They've been really helpful so far. I'll call the Tein U.S. rep again tomorrow as well. I think running a coilover with a greater spring rate and doing away with the spring all together should work fine. I may put the OEM ones back in though, I'm doing a grader job every time I go down my driveway.

You can either get a shock and a spring separately or a coilover, which is shock/spring in the same assembly. Either way you have to have a shock and a spring. That's how suspension works in general.
Vert vs coupe rear coilovers have different lower mounts (as you already pointed out earlier) and different spring rates (to compensate for the added weight of the roof / mechanism). Other than that everything is the same.

I looked at those 3 kits. I'm guessing it's stock photos, they have the same configuration as the kit I have. If I can't exchange the two rear shocks or buy the part of the shock I need to fit I'll make some adapter plates, though I'd like to stay away from that. At least on the stock metal... B2autodesign is not sure if they can order just the parts from Tein or not, so I may have to. Are there ready made adapters that can be bought?

Yea, pics generally show coupe parts, unfortunately.
I got burned my first time as well, but went with kw v3 and had to sell em.
Had good luck ordering from jmautosports.com. These guys have good customer servers and good prices. I believe they are a vendor here as well.
