Will I make it over speed bumps?
So I've been wondering this for a long time now and I've done some searching and haven't found the right answer. I'm thinking about lowering my 08 G35XS with springs or coils and I have 2 speed bumps maybe 3-4 inches tall and 8-10 inches wide(haven't taken exact measurements yet) in my apartment complex. Will I be able to get over them with a set of eibach pro kit springs and also if I were to get coils I know I can adjust them I just don't want an insane amount of wheel gap just so that I can go over the bumps with no problem. I've seen some pretty slammed cars get over speed bumps by taking them at an angle but scrape their exhaust, diff, etc. I do not want there to be ANY scraping.

This might not help as I do not know what the drop rate is off-hand for eibach's springs for your application, but I'm currently sitting at about 26.125" in the front and rear and do not scrap; but ever so barely don't. That's the top of the wheel-well height, which is about a 2.5" drop from factory spec for an AWD. The biggest issue I had was the front lip scraping, which sits about 3.25 inches off the ground currently. I still need to watch steep inclines. Besides the lip, nothing else scraped and I have gone through some parking lots with killer speed bumps.

I have Eibach springs and the lip isn't my biggest issue at about 4". It's the aftermarket splash guard/shroud that I use. I have 3.5" before contact on that.

Thanks for the replies. Do you both have aftermarket front lips? I will be taking measurements after work today. Do you know what the lowest point on our cars is?

I do have an aftermarket lip (http://www.ebay.com/itm/400957230021?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT) and my G is a '09. I am not sure what the lowest point is but when I get a chance to measure I will report back.

I believe it's 4.9 inches for the X Sport, 5.1 for the Journey Sport and X, and 5.2 inches for the 6MT Sport and the Journey. Counterintuitive I know, but the front diff. drops down a lot on the Xs.

Also, it's much easier (typically) to go over the speed bumps/humps at an angle, take them at about 1 to 2 o'clock (with straight being 12 o'clock, lol) and you shouldn't have much trouble. I was quite a bit lower on my B&G springs (before my coilovers) and there were a few times where I thought I might have to get a tow truck, but I survived. I'm still pretty low but haven't had a single speed bump issue since

I have eibach springs and I don't scrape. Just go over them slowly. I tried to go over one speed bump once and I couldn't because it was meant for 18 wheelers lolz I have to go up my driveway at angle so I don't scrape the bumper though.

Thanks. Now I got to decide whether I will be waiting for winter to be over or just lower it now.. Is anybody lowered on OEM 18s? I want to see how sunk in the wheels are. I'm assuming spacers are necessary with the 18s.

I was lowered on Eibachs with 18"s. Not OEMs, but, no spacers...coulda' used 15mm or 20 mm, though. 18x8 wrapped in 245/45s...offset 40. Didn't clear BBK, FWIW.
Hope this helps.
