What the install shop redundantly ordered for you (only using the front kit for comparison)..

What you originally ordered via centric's aftermarket, cost effective, oem equivalent option..

The only thing that looks different to me is back plates, which pads that aren't made specific to our application usually come with (as far as I know)...but stoptech(centric), hawk and others make the specific to our BBK application and I've had no need to put backing plates on separately.

The 'springs' they mentioned are the bronze/copperish looking plates the apply pressure on the pins and keep the pads/pins in place along with the cotter pins. Unless I'm completely missing something obvious, I think it's a joke they're trying to oust you of that sort of money on stuff you already have ahead of time. It would take 2-3 minutes of using Google for them to figure this out for themselves.

Thanks. The shop just called me before I could call them. The double kits is a screw up via the Infiniti parts guy they spoke to. So one set F&R of those are coming off the bill.

Blnewt provided some good advice: have them hold onto the other stuff and we can compare my parts against theirs. If we don't need it, then they will return it.

I probably shouldn't have used the term 'Taken' in my title. This is a good shop and they have been very accommodating and trustworthy in the past.

I was just worked up due to the unforeseen bill. It was sort of an ego hit, to be honest, as I have spent considerable time researching this and standing on the shoulders of my fellow forum members. I couldn't believe I was going to run 23% over budget. (Side-note: I manage large, expensive projects for my career )

You don't need any other parts. The brake pads (same that I ordered for the BBK upgrade) indeed came with all the hardware needed. I also ordered an extra set of hardware, not knowing the PosiQuiets already came with everything. Just a few bucks, so I didn't complain.

Either he is BSing you, or he's clueless. Either way, in all honesty? RUN away from them and find another place. I had an independent shop (that I trust implicitly) do the work for me for $400.

I know I don't need the pins. I haven't checked the kits yet. They say the kits contain springs that are needed.

I don't think you need anything more than the parts you've purchased. I switched to the BBK last month (my thread here).

If your shop hasn't installed the bbk before, remind them to bend the backplate further on the front calipers till there's atleast 0.5" clearance or more, otherwise rocks and road debris will get stuck between the plate and the rotor.

Everything turned out perfectly.

They sent the parts back and charged-back my CC as I had the correct ones. They indicated that they got the parts to ensure that there would be no hiccups in the install: 'You wouldn't believe how many people say they have the parts, but end up missing something or getting the wrong part'.

They are good, honest people who are doing what it takes to run a business and satisfy clients.

Apparently it's me, the alarmist, who has a problem.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

Never hurts to assume a business is looking out for themselves first. Glad you found a great shop and one you can depend on for any future work. Brakes look sweet!

Your right. These guys have really won me over.

They do make a profit, but they are passionate and love this platform.

Yeah, me too. But it's all in the rearview mirror now and I'm loving my BBK.
