Yes, but you can choose from different kinds of rotors, drilled, slotted, plain, drilled & slotted, etc.

SiKHG37 - Sounds good, did you replace both the front and the rear with drilled/slotted?

I still have rear Brakeperformance drilled/slotted on the rear of my Sedan (Have a Wilwwod setup in front) and they've held up well.
Just don't go w/ their house brand pads, go w/ aftermarket pads like Stoptech Street Pads, those work very well w/ those rotors.

Kb959fl, I replaced the front and rear with the drilled and slotted. Just like blnewt said don't buy the house brand when buying brakes, go with something like stop tech pads. I also have stop tech street performance pads all around.

Blnewt, I have no complaints about the rotors. I'm sure you know they are really good rotors . No regrets, highly recommend.

blnewt & SiKHG37,

Thanks for the info. I currently have new Akebono Pro-ACT ceramic pads (front/rear). Aren't those supposed to be high quality pads and comparable to StopTech? The support team at Brake Performance recommended bedding the pads in again by:

go from 0 to 50 mph then hit the brakes hard and slow down to almost a stop and do it over again about 6 times and let the car sit overnight

It's been almost a week now since the tire shop techs worked on my brakes (applied additional anti-squeak grease to pads/shims/points) and the squeak is still there when backing up but luckily not as loud as the video I posted.

What is the best route to go now? Should I start by switching out the pads to a new brand (StopTech, etc) and see how it goes or just change everything out (pads and rotors)?

I've been told this will help, might be worth a shot at this point OP, just a little taper done w/ an angle grinder, not more than 1/8" should suffice. Just the leading edge (the side of the pad pointing to the top of the car)

Well since the pads you bought are still new, I would go with what blnewt is saying and give that a try. Really hopes this works for you. I know that squeak is unbearable.

How about just replacing the pads with a different brand (StopTech, Posi Quiet)? Do you think that would make any difference? Not sure if the shop will be cool with shaving them down (safety, etc).

So I've been driving around with the Akebono pads for over a month now and the brake squeal issues have not gotten any better. My local tire shop said they would replace the pads with OEM factory Infiniti pads to see if that helps. However, they said that they don't need shims since they are integrated into the pads. This is contradictory to what my Infiniti dealer said. When I had the Akebono pads installed, they removed the factory shims and threw them out since the Akebonos have them built into the pads. Is it fine to put the OEM Infiniti pads on without the hardware kit (clips, shims, etc)?

No, that won't help. Shims help reduce noises - you need them. OEM pads do not come with shims as the dealer noted. I have Akebono ProAct pads and Centric Premium rotors on my BBK and they do not squeak at all. In my experience, cheap rotors cause squeaking. Maybe it is the metal composition or the quality of the machining, I can't explain exactly why, that is just my experience.

Ryne - Did you install shims with your Akebono ProAct pads? The tire shop put on new Wearever rear rotors on mine which did not help. Not sure if that brand is on the cheaper side.

Hey man, I seemed to have this same problem, and after further research and trying to grease, replace, and resurface, or do whatever i can to fix it, i figured it out. What you need to do is take your wheel off, and behind the rotor there is a circular metal plate, and what happens is, when you reverse, the rotor is rubbing again the metal dust shield, causing that annoying and obnoxious squeak. Simply take a screw driver, or your fingers if you can, and pry the dust shield back a couple centimeters or how ever much until you can spin your rotor without concurring any squeaking. This is what I did, and it worked for me.

Good Luck Man!!

Akebono ProAct pads have built in shims. I did not add any additional shims. I did use the supplied grease though.
