Spacer Gurus .. H&R DRM vs DRS !!
As we all know, H&R spacers come with two styles: DRM and DRS.
Difference - from my understanding - is that DRM's are actually adaptors that your wheels are literally bolted on them , DRS's are true spacer that pushes the wheels and the wheels here are bolted to your oem hubs so the spacers sit in between. Now the question is, doesn't that make them safer than DRM style ?! If so then why not everyone go for them ?! Howz the installation on them, is it hard to pull the oem hub studs ?!
Thank you in advance ..

The main reason (to me) why there are two styles is the spacer thickness. You can't really bolt on a 4mm spacer so that's why you need to replace the studs. And if you need 30mm spacer you wouldn't want to replace with super long studs. I wouldn't exactly say it's safer because quality spacers shouldn't have any problems. Installation shouldn't be too difficult. Use a mallet to pound the studs out and press the new studs by tightening open ended lug nuts.

15mm or thinner the long stud versions FTW, over 20mm the bolt ons, as shear strength comes into play when you get studs too long. Between 15-20mm is kind of a gray area so either should suffice.
And yes, any spacer can fail since it's a mechanical connection. It's one of those parts that you shouldn't just install & forget, every 3000 miles would be a good interval to check torque, and just a few hundred miles after initial install for sure.

Define fail. I know some might experience vibration but who knows what the true issue is. Actually my personal preference is Eibach and not Ichiba.

Can't speak for Eibach tho, ain't digged on them yet .
Anyways, ones i'm looking for are the 20mm from H&R but can't decide whether to go for the DRM's or DRS's

I used to have 20mm DRM on my 35x and the nuts would always be the downside. They would strip after a few uses and eventually I needed a damaged nut remover to get them off. When I got my 37S I started using DRS and I can say after 3.5 years that the extended studs have been on my car I haven't experienced any vibrations or failure of any kind. Also when I do need to go up or down in spacer size I just take the spacer off and throw a different one on. Hell I've gone power sliding with the spacers on and haven't experienced any problems. I have 3 different sets of spacers that I use depending on which set of wheels I have one.
