G37 original stock brake life
#17
I am at about 30k on a 2011 G37X and will be replacing the rears (fronts are fine) this week. Brake distribution is a little different on these (and other modern cars with traction control, AWD, etc) and the old "if the rears go before the front, something is wrong" concept no longer applies. Most of my mileage is 35-50mph on surface roads (with about 20 traffic lights I hit most days, lol). YMMV

You're Forgetting a MAJOR Factor
Differences between the "base/Journey" models and the Sport (G37S) model can make all the difference in the world(!) The G37S has larger, heavier-duty brakes front and rear that are made by a different manufacturer, so discussing both within the same thread can be deceiving. I have a 2011 G37S and the brakes have 65,250 miles on them, but they DON'T SEEM TO WEAR OUT. I'm a average driver who sometimes drives aggressively, so the brakes sometimes get challenged. I bought replacement pads long ago, but my rotors are clean, braking performance is superb, and NO SQUEAKING. I had a flat on the rear, so I checked the pad thickness, and it still looks great. I'm starting to wonder just WHEN I'll need the new pads!
