Yea, 2 piece rotors are the best, you have other options to go with such as DBA.

Uh, do you have any information on what Akebono 2 piece rotors you are talking about? This is the first I am hearing of them and I'm quite intrigued. Link?

Are they in-house rotors that fit Akebono apllications or are they Akebono brand? Sounds like they're fabbed in house.

"Being enthusiasts, we kept rotor rebuild cost reasonable without sacrificing top tier performance. "

Sounds in-house to me...

Most definitely NOT made by Akebono. Hence my surprise at this thread because I was pretty certain that Akebono doesn't manufacture any 2 pc rotors for our application. But apparently that is what Z1 is calling them because they are a replacement for the Akebono OEM rotors. OK...

DBA has had 2 piece rotors for this application for a while now. We've actually sold quite a few of them with no complaints.

Is a 2 piece rotor really that much better? Only if you can afford it.

They are much pricier than their 1 piece counterparts.

So does CZP and the first to make them, Racing Brake. RB makes 2 pc fronts and rears. Expensive, but I like them because of the open slot design.

I picked up a set of the Z1 two piece on the Black Friday sale... They are definitely lighter than the 14" Stoptech drilled and slotted for the Akebono... They supposed to make you stop better also due less rolling inertia... And since it is not one piece cast dissipitate heat better. Getting my calipers repainted soon as they come back they will be installed.

Can't wait to install... Reinstall rather

No way that will make a measurable difference.

They look great, tho...

Not to get too technical, but losing 10 lbs on a wheel has a greater positive effect than losing 10 lbs on a rotor. Because the barrel of the wheel is further away from the rotational axis of the axle. The further out away from the axis the weight is lost, the greater the benefit. But losing 10 lbs on a rotor closer to the axle still helps quite a bit.
