Thumbs down Stillen = garbage! Dont buy stillen parts

May 30 tried to grease my sway bars found the rear sway bar cracked

Called Dean at Stillen (Stealin), he said he would not be able to do anything since I bought it second hand and I did not have the person's info who bought it... I found the e-mail of the person who I originally bought the sway bars from and got his information from him. I called Dean back and he told be the original buyer had to call and request the invoice. I had to call the original buyer and ask him to call and deal with Stillen's bs, he was a cool guy and did it for me. He call and requested the invoice I waited about 5 days and the invoice was still not e-mailed to me. So I called Stillen and I guess the person in charge of customer service picked up and I told him what happened and he said that is against our company policy. So they offered me a discount on another piece of **** sway bar
So I bought white line sway bars
Their company policy should be "Stealing your money"

Ya I have 2 pieces from stillen and both have issues.

Rear roof spoiler= fitment sucks and it has many dimples in it

Catback Exhaust = exhaust clamps rust and leak, exhaust is rusting all over and I've put barely 5000miles on it.

My local shop even had problems with stillen on a brand new pair of HFCs, fitment was way off and stillen took months to resolve the issue while the customer waited... Even after months of waiting there was no resolution. That being said my shop and I vowed never to buy a stillen product again. Customer Service/products are beyond horrible

I didn't make a fuss about either of my issues as I already knew they weren't going to do anything... Take a min to read the forums and you'll see tons of negative feedback on Stillen.

While this does suck, I don't understand how this is their fault. You bought a used aftermarket part. In no way do they owe you anything.

I'm sorry to see this OP. You're not the only one unfortunately:

Broken Sway Bar (stillen) - 2001 - 2006 Lexus IS300 - Lexus Owners Club (USA & Canada)

Stillen Swaybar broke!!.... pics inside - G35Driver

Stillen Sway Snapped - G35Driver

I'd personally invest in swaybars from companies that specialize in suspension parts.

I gotta agree void here. You bought a used suspension part that failed, how is it the manufacturer's fault? I mean its not like you bought them new, put 5k miles on them, and THEN they failed. You have no idea how they were treated before you bought them. You have no idea how many miles were on them (for certain) before you bought them. You have no idea what kind of elements they were put through before you bought them. The ONLY way you would know these things was if you bought them BRAND NEW.

I have heard legit horror stories about stillen's products and customer service before, but it seems like this, in this particular case, isn't one of them.

Question is, are swaybars considered consumables? Is it normal for them to crack/wear out if driven hard?

I dont think so.

If we were talking brake pads and clutches, maybe....

But we are talking about a part that should theoretically last the life of the car, excluding endlinks.

Unless the car was involved in an accident, there is NO REASON why a sway bar should crack like that....

Ouch, that's ugly and potentially dangerous. I would never buy used suspension parts just from all the stories I've heard. Tough scenario OP, guess you can chalk it up to a lesson learned and may help those considering buying similar parts. Glad nothing happened to you or your car other than the broken bar.

Holy red cracking bars batman...I am sooo glad I read this. I was thinking of getting some of these bars as Dean owes me a favor after selling me a CAI then having it be on BO for two weeks. NO more Stillen for me...I also felt that their customer service was not as it should be.
