Rear Akebono is enough for 700hp?
Hello
I'm waiting for my TT GTM Power package and I would like to be 100% prepared for it. I have already 380mm drilled front rotors with 8 spot calipers but now I need to upgrade rear brakes. I was told that Akebono rear 2 spot brakes with 350mm rotors will be enough for my future car (700hp).
What do you think? Will I be satisfied with it?
Or it's better to take the same 380mm rotors with 6 spot calipers?
Thanks in advance for a advices

Brakes upgrade has little to do with how much power youre making. It's more about what do you plan to do with your car. For spirited driving, the stock Akebonos are sufficient. If you're tracking the car, then you'll probably want to upgrade it.

As Modme said, the akebono calipers are sufficient for spirited driving.
Think of it this way...ya, you're waiting on our TT and you say you'll be pushing 700hp, but how often are you going to be using all that HP? How often will you be going in excess if 125mph? And how often are you gonna to be going that fast and need to stop quickly?
I suppose you can get a Stoptech BBK to be safe, but I think you'll be fine with the akebono calipers and a good set of pads.
BTW, something you may want to think about....maybe invest in some SS brake lines and some high temp brake fluid, that'll help with fade.

As was stated, if you aren't tracking the car, OEM brakes are plenty sufficient. Track use puts a lot more load on the braking system - constant use for prolonged periods that build up heat in the system quickly. Over and over.
A few occasional stops from high speed won't be a problem at all for the OEM brakes.
Be sure to share your 700 HP build with us. Sounds killer.
