On the subject of Cusco vs. GT Spec how does the statement make sense?

I believe he is referring to the hood liner. The part that is attached to the underside of the hood. Protection from accessive heat and it does dampen the sound a little. The GTspec bar rubs the liner.

I'm reading that he acknowledges the same issue everyone else does with GT Spec but is ok with it because he prefers function over form. I don't understand how that constitutes function over form

I simply meant that the GTspec FSB works. It rubs on the liner, but I wouldn't replace it for the cusco fsb that doesnt rub even though it probably works just as well.

(GTSpec)Function...it works even though it rubs
(Cusco)Form....works, but doesn't rub which makes it look better

Function=works
Form=looks good

Thanks, though, for dissecting my simple comment that wasn't directed at anyone, but was only trying to reinforce what was said in the comment above mine.

I don't need you to explain the definition of function or form. My confusion with your statement is that Cusco is just as functional and your statement implies that the GT Spec bar is functional and the Cusco isn't. I believe that Cusco is functional and form fitted and GT Spec is only functional.

Are you sure?

I completely Agree with you...they are both functional.

And that's why I wouldn't replace my GTspec with the cusco. Because I already have a FSB...and I don't see the need to get another one just so it can look pretty, because other than being JDM, that's all the cusco has going for it...pretty....in comparison to the GTspec.

I don't think I can explain my comment any further to you. If you don't get it, then I'm sorry you're confused.

I guess I'm just gonna have to lose sleep.

It's debatable but it's a really nice mod to get for looks. It's hard to argue that it doesn't serve a purpose. The strut bar, with nice coils and sway bars all as a combo will really make the difference. Not a bad mod at all. I recommend it. I want to say it was like 200 for the Cusco...not sure though. ModBagins, who is a vendor on here, had the best price at one time.

I'm going to bump this old thread, having found someone who removed their hood liner.
  • Is it still removed?
  • Can the liner be removed easily, and just as easily re-installed?
  • Is the car any louder?
  • Isn't the hood liner a safety feature, as well as sound-deadening?

I'm asking these questions for two reasons:
  1. My R2C intake is far more quiet than I would like. Want more noise.
  2. The liner rubs on my GT-Spec FSTB, and I hate that.

[edit] Nevermind. I removed it. https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...ood-liner.html

I have the CUSCO bar! 0 rubbing hood liner was removed! Also 0 rubbing on engine cover. the CUSCO bar is better then GTSPEC. I had the GTSPEC and the CUSCO bar is better built.
