Rear Sway Bar Upgrade
#151
This topic is beaten to death.
Here is what I ended up doing:
My Vehicle - 2012 G37x Sedan
My Impression - Stock
I do not like the way the rear end moves around in cornering. It unloads late on me... and although I still have control, I do not like the feeling it gives. I learned to drive in a supercharged 2001 Honda Prelude that was slammed to the ground with sway bars and coil overs. It was a rough ride but cornered very predictably. With that vehicle I could corner faster and faster until the front started to slide. Once broken loose I could steer with the throttle. Less Gas? bites into the corner quickly. More Gas? Loses corner slowly. ... So my perspectives are from that personal preference and experience - slammed FWD car that was front heavy and overpowered (12psi on 10:1 compression)
So -
now I am in an AWD boat of a sedan. We will see what it takes to drive it at the limit.
Testing so far - breaking loose
I have not succeeded in breaking the car loose yet.... other than some howling from the tires. I have not plowed out or come around. It has been about 8000 miles and twice a day I try to lose control on various freeway cloverleafs and offramps accelerating from about 30mph up to 70 or 120. I am in no hurry... but eventually I do want to lose control so I know what it feels like.
Compatibility - rear bar
G37x - clearly has a pinner rear sway bar.
Anything out of any G35, G37, or 370z would be an upgrade. Dont split hairs, just experiment and see what it feels like.
Compatibility - brackets
Bracket PN's look to be the same. I will report back if I have any trouble using the G37x brackets on the 370z bushings & bar.
Compatibility - bushings
They will come on any used bar that you get. Nobody is going to take the time to remove them :-)
Pricing - rear only, used
They were going for about $120 on ebay. I made a Best Offer of $70 that was accepted. Shipping was $40 and some tax. My total was $116 shipped from TX to CA.
Install - Rust
My particular vehicle has 110,000 miles and I got it for a very good price. The entire undercarriage is dusted with rust so I anticipate a hard time. I use PB Blaster and patience on all tough bolts. After that I use a lever bar and the largest socket wrench I can fit. 1/2" if possible, 3/8" I have broken. These bolts will come right out I am certain.
... I always say "Pics or it didn't happen"
So... when they arrive (I just bought them) I will share my learnings and install experience on this thread.

Can anyone here help me out with some part #s and advice on end links? Swapping out my sway bar soon and want to have all pieces together. I have a '12 G37x. Bought a 56230-1EA0C sway bar from a RWD-only G37. It did NOT come with bushing, brackets, or nuts/bolts. From the diagram on Infiniti Parts Deal, it looks like:
- bushings = 56243 or 54613-JK01A or 54613-JK06C... I understand I would need 2 of them but which part # is it? Z1 also has them listed for 2009+ RWD sedans only or Moog has them. Leaning towards OEM but wanted to ask
- any other misc nuts/bolts I should get? there's the 55060 A&B, should I get new ones of those in case of rust?
- bracket listed as 54614, should I get one of those as well just in case? Saw a couple other threads that said brackets may or may not fit the new bar.
- end links - Currently have 92k miles is it worth swapping these out? Would probably go OEM route, part # is 56261N and 56261NA.
