Go to your local auto parts store and rent a spring compressor for $40. Take it back get your money back, it's a VERY easy install for anyone with any mechanical skills. And on the coilovers vs springs price, the coilovers are actually easier to install. But I would not pay a shot more than $200 for an install. The rear springs can be done in less than the time it takes to jack it up and remove the wheel. Fronts have an access panel that can be removed so the lower and upper arms do not have to be removed unless you are doing a camber kit.

I was quoted $600 also. I just installed them myself. The spring compressors would have been a huge PITA with hand tools. I had an air compressor to make the task easier and it was still time consuming.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I hate feeling like I'm getting quoted a high price cause I'm a chick.

I am getting my CV3's in 3 days and want to find a place to have the Eibachs put on shortly after. I will call the place in Aloha, thanks Dan!

i hate to say it, but it sounds like to me that they might be taking advantage of you because you're a female. sucks to say, but that may be the case.

honestly i've been hearing about that same thing happening more and more (including my wife until she called me and i went down to the unnamed shop to set them straight). read an article the other day of a 60's year old woman that went to meineke to get her just oil changed, and was charged for stuff that "she needed"....$800 later....and they wanted to have her come back to get her transmission flushed for $400+.

honestly.....i wouldn't even consider barganing with them....just find another shop.
all of those big name garages are ba$tard$. If anything, go to an Indy shop where you can get to know the mechanic and build a good relationship with him. He'll take care of your car for repeat business. Coilover install is easy since you essentially replace the whole unit. Springs are a little more involved since it requires removing the top mount and replacing the springs. Can be done without compressors since the springs aren't loaded that much. If you zip off the top nut, there will be less than an inch travel without compressors.

Does anyone know per chance what a spring install on a new M involves? I asked over on the M forum but it's not too active over there. I hate the massive gap but don't want a major drop, just something subtle like the Eibachs offer. But I don't want to have things trimmed, cut, camber kit, etc .... if at all possible.
