Post Hotchiks sway bar causing creaking sound: Solved!

I had this creaking sound coming from the front when I go over speed bumps. Brought the car to three different infiniti dealers to have it looked at. First dealership said, last person worked on the car they didnt tighten up the undercover and they retighten it. That didnt solve the problem. Second dealership said, sway bar caused the heat shield to be out of spec. Because it was a after market part that caused the problem, I was assessed a diag fee (wasnt too happy) but if I choose to have it fix for $$. They would waive the diag fee. Today, I brought car in for oil change at Infiniti Masapequa and to have my creaking sound looked at. They said the sway bar just needed lubrication and my rear sway bar setting should be in middle to be within OEM spec (I opt to leave the setting as is). They lub-ed the sway bar for fee!!! Problem fix! Kudos to Infiniti Masapequa for providing good customer service. They earned my business.

hahaha Infiniti folks are so much more dependent upon dealerships than any Nissan guys from other forums I frequent.

I've had my car 2 years. Haven't been to the dealer once.

I need to go, though... leather on my door sill split.

Some Infiniti folks are dealer dependent, but lots on here know better and would not go to the dealer for something so trivial.

Also, a few minutes of searching on here would have educated the OP to the simple solution that many aftermarket sways go through.

Oh yeah, no doubt. I'm certainly not generalizing across the board. Seems a lot of the infrequent posters are more inclined to run to the dealership for the smallest issue.

They have nice Zerk fittings on them, when you do your oil changes just take a grease gun and check them.

At least for me, I have to rely on The Man to get my stuff done. It's kinda hard to pull the car up against the edge of the side walk to get underneath the car without getting a ticket in the city.

The fix is always seem simple after you figure out what the problem is.

I created this post to share the experience/symptoms along with solution.

There's been posts in the past about dry sway bar bushing causing noise/clicking/clunking.

My eibach bars have been installed since march or april. So far quiet.

You cant use "grease". Urethane bushings require Silicone based lubes.

I just had mine installed maybe 1k miles ago and I got the old creaking noise. Seems like it happens a lot worse when it is very cold out. Very annoying noise.

My solution to my creaking sway bars was to pull them off and sell them. The OEMs are silent and now I no longer dog leg going into my driveway... lovely.

I don't know what lubrication they used.
What problems can result from using wrong type of lub? Thanks.

Honestly, I thought it was the suspension that was causing the noise so took it in for warranty work. It only makes that creaking noise when I go over bumps...oh well

I couldnt go back to OEM...I love taking on fast turns. But every time car makes that creaking sound when you pass someone, it makes me duck under the dash lol.
