Another dissatisfied stoptech rotor owner

Hey guys just bought the Akebono BBK w/ stoptech rotors for my g. Sure the brakes are great and all but the rotors have already RUSTED!!!! I have had the rotors on for 2 dam days!!! This is unacceptable and ruins my new look w/ the wheels. I am going to see what CZP will do for me. Looks like DBA here I come? I know you guys have talked about the rust ring but not this fast?!?! Any suggestions? I was going to show off my g with all the new upgrades/180 treatment but now I am embarrassed lol. See attached pics...

I'm guessing you've been parked for a couple of days. Take a quick cruise around the block and the surface rust will be removed.

This is a completely normal for steel rotors, especially if you live in a humid area.

This is not the same as the rust ring that we talk about. Rust ring is an area towards the center of the rotor that is unpainted and not in contact with the brake pads. This area will rust and can never be cleared by the brake pads.

In your case, as soon as you start driving, the rust will be cleared.

^ This. I am not a huge StopTech fan, but this is 100% normal.

Only way that you'll get rid of the rust is:

1. Drive
2. Get zinc coated rotors next time (I hear that doesn't even stop it all the way).
3 get ceramic rotors $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and more $$$$$$$$$

Rusting like in your pictures is completely normal...especially if you live in a high humidity area.

Don't blame stop tech...it's not their fault.

Sorry I am no guru, but I don't see why the oem rotors don't do this? So is this surface rust going to happen everytime I leave car parked in hot weather? I never had this with other rotors that is why I ask, thanks.
