Does the G37 have the same brake overheat issues as the 370z?

Gents,

Has anyone reported the severe/sudden fade and failure of brakes while tracking a G37 like the 370Z?

(ref the C&D article here: Z Meets Wall: We Investigate Why the NISMO Z's Brakes Failed at Lightning Lap - Feature - Car and Driver )
I can't seem to find any reference by searching.

I understand our aerodynamics are slightly different, are we lucky in the G's to have slightly better cooling? I've tracked my G once awhile back and gotten some good fade, but didn't have a sudden failure like in the article.

Just curious what word on the street is as I prepare to hit the track this year. I'm planning on Stoptech Pads, stock rotors, and upgraded brake fluid to keep me safe...hope that's good enough.

From personal experience, I've had the exact same problem. At first I didn't know what was going on, and why the brakes got so hot so fast, but I actually read that article a few months ago, and it made perfect sense to me.

I had an older v35 G35, I did the akebono upgrade had no problems, spirited driving, they always cooled down rapidly; and once I stopped, they were barely warm.

On my V36, they get hot very hot in spirited driving, and on the track I don't' get enough thermal capacity to escape fade. It takes them a while to cool down.

I am currenlty running the Stoptech SuperSport pads on mine right now, they are a bit a soft, very little bite initial bite, and after they are hot, a lap or so and they fade, if you are considering some track driving I'd recommend at minimum Hawk HP+ or the Project Mu Type HC+

Also, I'm pretty sure Nissan knew about the brakes not getting enough airflow or other deposits, hence why they used practically no dust shield in the front.

No wonder why stillen came out with a brake duct kit for the 370. I copied it to a degree and did that for my g37 before going to the track next month.

Yes they have the brake fade issue as well. ESP if you track your car. This is one of the reasons I'm going with Racing brake group deal to get the front and rear 2 peice rotor system.
https://www.myg37.com/forums/group-b...ar-rotors.html

THe slots are drilled through and the cooling vanes are of a convergent nozzle design, which increases airflow and turbulence and makes discs cooler.
Two-piece rotor (Open Slot) - 370Z (Sport) FRONT 2009
Hopefully with this I wont get fade as I did before.
